and they sign ones like gronk and brady....

and the saints signed brees, and still may sign graham..

how's gronk working out since signing? oh that's right he's always hurt. so what's your point? the saints actually have a superbowl win in recent memory.. the patriots haven't won one in a decade..

Probably so

And he'll probably change how TE's are paid and used from here on out. But still at TE.

Just because he gets WR money, doesn't make him a WR...just a really great TE.

This thread is about compensation.

Jimmy Graham will hold out if he gets tagged, and the Saints will be without him as a weapon unless they sign him to a long term deal, which will be worth mid-WR money.

right, as the highest paid tightend he will likely get closer to the WR tag (ie average of top 5 wrs) than the TE tag (average of top 5 TEs)

he has far more in common with gronk and vernon davis than he does mike wallace and larry fitzgerald.

Interesting choice of comparisons considering he had more receptions, yards, and touchdowns than all of those guys this year.

I hate the fricking Cheatriots as much as anyone, but do you really want to get into a bragging contest with them?

Tight End will only make him pissed with the Saints this year. Good way to keep him happy.

I don't even know if the Saints have a choice to tag him as a WR or TE.

I doubt it.

I'm not a very big proponent of the franchise tag in the first place. I think it's unfair to the players FWIW.

You can't take one piece of the CBA and evaluate it on its own. That's very faulty logic.

Sure, if you don't want to be constrained by logic.

Pointing to one small piece of a CBA and calling it unfair while ignoring that there were concessions made to the players as a result is beyond ignorant.

Not that interesting. I picked 2 of the top 5 guys (ie guys who make up the tag #) from each position

tight ends can line up at wide out. wide outs don't line up at tight end. deal with it, Jimmy
