Stafford would always put up big numbers in Detroit but never won anything of significance. Is Herbert going to have to leave the Chargers like Stafford did to win in the playoffs?

Gonna need to see Herbert go to, say, the 49ers

The first step would be getting rid of Brandon Staley. The Chargers will never win with him as head coach

Yeah not ousting Staley in either of the last two seasons was just fricking dumb.

The chargers just seem to be cursed in perpetuity. They can have all the talent in the world across multiple regimes and it always just falls flat.

I'd imagine they'd be by far the most attractive job to the Detroit OC. But you know some weird shite will still happen and they won't put it together. Crazy thing is that I think Herbert probably has the best pure arm in the league and he's obviously a pretty intelligent guy too. Seems like it should be really happening for him at this point.

If Sean Payton would have been patient that job could probably have been his after this season. He could have inherited Herbert and a much more talented roster to continue to hide his deficiencies.

Herbert threw that game ending INT last night, no one else.

I will say, do the Chargers have the ball for the final drive of every game to try and win it?

Chargers need to move back to San Diego.

Two straight home games that sounded like road games.

It is hard to win on the road. Having no home field advantage is a big disadvantage.

Like others have said, they need to get rid of Staley ASAP.

That's fair but Herbert is more talented than Rivers. Rivers throwing motion looked like a shot put. I wonder if Detroit's OC might take the Chargers job next year.

Pretty good comp. If Herbert had Megatron that would be pretty electric. He's got good receivers, but there's only one Calvin Johnson.

The Chargers are just a joke of a franchise. Bad ownership, a head coach who refuses to adjust to repeated analytics failure and just all-around mismanagement. And Herbert hasn’t been good enough to overcome all of that.

Bolts will fire Staley, hire Belichick, and win a SB.

I would bet cash money they end up back in San Diego in the next 20 years. Being the second fiddle team in LA is going to get old and the city + some private group will come up with the $$$ for a stadium. Think how often you hear people who cover sports for a living call them the San Diego Chargers.
