I don't have a real opinion on windhorst himself, but dude has an amazing job. Covering an all time great from high school through the pros? Including a 4 year "college stint" in Miami for the biggest rock concert team the league has seen in 15 years? I'm sure you MSBers would've turned that down to crunch numbers in some miserable cubicle

Any of us would take it. Just a bunch of sour grapes in this thread. Poking fun at the guy's weight makes people feel better about it. Sometimes you have to just appreciate a man's hustle. He saw an opportunity and he took it.

I admit I would take his job in an instant.

Yes....

And he's written multiple books on LBJ. Multiple. How do you write multiple books on the same exact person?

Dudes a weirdo.

play by play, 2-3 "columns" a week gig....covering the actual games and athletes is viewed as what the beginners are suppose to do. Example i haven't had to cover a actual game in attendance in years and I am grateful for it.

Dude has followed Lebron throughout his career, has written books about him, and his life basically revolves around Lebron. I seriously doubt they are friends. At best Lebron just feels bad for h so he doesn't say anything. He even moves wherever Lebron moves. He gets paid to be a stalker

Maybe thats because people are weirdly demanding in what they want to know about athletes these days, just like for some odd reason they care about actors and what they do off screen. I'm one of those people who "strangely" gives not a single f#$% what any athlete does off the field/court/turf/pitch/hardwood/ice/track, because they aren't known for what they do out of their respective competition, but in it. I think we can all agree that most athletes are generally self-centered, some self-centered in a kind-hearted way, others self-centered in a very damaging way. This is also the case for the population at-large, so I dont need to know anymore. The same goes for any celebrity. They say stupid controversial shite all of the time because we give them the stage to say stupid controversial shite. Brian Windhorst follows LeBron around because people for some reason care wtf LeBron is doing at all times. I for one would guess LeBron is just like the average athlete off the court, but he has money to do some different things. I wish all the TMZ bullshite would disappear forever.

Last summer shortly after LeBron went back to Cleveland I saw an opening for a "LeBron James beat" online for I guess the Cleveland paper. Just cover LeBron 24/7 and write about everything he does.

Didn't know they had positions where you just cover one player like that

Cut him some slack. There is an obvious demand for his "journalism" and you have to admit that getting paid to see NBA games and hang around the NBA and LeBron is a pretty sweet job.
