Like I said I don't have shite for size 5'7 160. I just gotta think that if they saw my speed they would want to use it in some kind of way on scout team. If that little fricker fromm rice can make the team then shite I'd hope I can.

But did yo play high school ball? With that speed there would certainly been smaller schools willing to give you a shot.

Yeah I played highschool AAAA largest in SC, problem was we were 3 deep at RB. The other two guys were both 190 and 220. Both clocked sub 4.6 forties, both ran for 1000+ plus yards and 20+ TD's my senior year. I got some PT probably average around 5 ypc. But I was just overshadowed. Played at a traditional bottom feeder school. My senior year we won 10 games which was the best since 1975. It just wasn't a situation where I could be noticed. Not to mention I weighed a hell of a lot less back then.

I'm not trying to go be a star, just scout team .Feel like I'm wasting my speed if I don't go do something with it.

You could go to a smaller school(FCS, D2, NAIA) a play for real.

Tyrann Mathieu runs a 4.62 (40) and looks like the fastest guy on the field, thats why the term "football" speed exists.

From Scout database on his commitment page.
CB 31 Tyrann Mathieu
(St. Augustine HS)
New Orleans, LA 5-9/160/4.62 07/21/2009

Tyrann runs a legit laser timed 4.63. the OP, we don't know. He never confirmed or denied laser timing.

No I'm not going to bullshite and say I did. I never was in a position to have a laser time. However throughout my highschool career I was consistenly clocked at 4.6ish at multiple strength and speed competitions. My freshman year I was at 4.64, Junior year was the last year I got clocked and it was 4.61. My squat, and leg strength is a lot better now but who knows. Still I have pretty solid speed especially for a white boy.

Now could I in reality be running a 4.7, absolutely. But I was always one of the fastest guys on the field. Was just about even with one of our WRs who now starts for Army.

Nice.

Find a football player, ask him about some of the workouts he's doing. Get in the weight room and work your arse off. Get on the field with sweat pants & shirt and run, pull the sled, etc to get into the best shape of your life, and once Clemson's season is over, go to the football offices and ask any coach for just a shot. Might make a good scout DB.

You can google it cuz i'm not sure, but i think a team can has as many people out in the spring as they want. Also, make sure you have taken at least 12 hrs each semester for the past 2 semesters including spring.

You need to work your arse off and prove to the coaches that you'd be valuable to their scout team.

Also, 160's going to get you killed. You need to work on building some muscle mass while maintaining speed.

And don't underestimate how fricking gigantic and fast the real players out there are. I was in your position once. Just watching how fast SEC (well, in your case, ACC) linebackers can cover the field scared the shite out of me.

You also need to have something to catch the coach's attention like a highlight tape or some real, certified measurables from a workout. They don't just have tryouts for walk-ons. Hell, every football crazed fan would try to walk-on if it was easy to try.

Good luck. Don't die.

Start conditioning, start lifting weights, and figure out what you need to do. Life is about having no regrets and if you feel you would regret giving it a shot then there is no reason not to. They may tell you you're not good enough and you're in the same position as you are now. If things go good you may get to suit up and say you are a part of the team. That doesn't guarantee you will suit up, but from there you never know what could happen. Best of luck with whatever you do. Hope it works out.
