This is a fun thread. I am somewhere in the middle on the Carter/Bush argument. I think you are underestimating a bit how good people thought Carter would be. The big difference is that he got hurt right off the bat in the preseason and that hype went away almost immediately. I'd also split the difference and put Bush in the 90/95 hype range. There were some questions about him (more than Lebron or Tiger I'd say), but a lot of people overestimate those concerns now.

I don't know about this. A bit of a letdown but Roddick has been a great player for a long time. He is in the wrong era, Federer really did a number on his career. Still, he has won a major. I think he is remembered completely differently if he had pulled out that epic Federer match a few years ago.
