Did something happen to the feed? I just lost my feed on MLB Network online. Says it is a commercial.

ETA - fricking MLB Network online. I finally found a stream on Reddit and the game was already final. Damnit.

Just saw the ending on Royals telecast. It was awesome listening to their announcers shed some tears. Thrilling game.

Leave it to baseball to have some goofy arse deal about the tie with the 1916 streak.

Wikipedia is pretty quick, by the way:

quote:

The 1916 New York Giants hold the record for the longest winning streak in MLB history at 26 games, although an unrecorded tie-game occurred in the middle of the streak. The second longest winning streak is 22 by the 2017 Cleveland Indians, a streak still in progress.

Yeah Tim Kurkjian commented on that last night.

There was a tie. Basically, since ties technically can't happen, that game just never happened. They replayed the game, the Giants won, and the streak continued.

Amazing win. So rare to see playoff atmosphere and this level of emotion in a regular season game.

The Tribe is now 32-5 since trading for Jay Bruce. The Indians are such a young team, we just needed that old man Jay Bruce (29 yo) to bring it all together. In the words of the great baseball movie Major League...."There's only one thing left to to do...win the whole fricking thing"

Go Tribe!!!!!!!

Would it make me a bandwagon fan if I wanted that shirt due to my love for Major League?

I heard a guy from Elias on Mad Dog yesterday too. I agreed with him - the streak to be broken is 26. The Giants didn't lose, and eventually won that game.

On the flip side, that 26 game winning streak was all in the middle of like a 28-30 game home stand. That 1916 Giants team also won 17 straight road games at one point - all in a row too. They also missed the playoffs.

I agree with this they to win a few more, it's like the game never happened since they don't score ties in bball
