People who don't watch baseball are selling Trout short in this thread. Through the first 5 seasons, Trout is ahead of Bonds by a solid margin

You would have a solid point if the OP asked "who had a better first 5 seasons?"

I definitely watch, and it's very likely that Trout certainly has not hit his prime. I, for one, don't believe we have seen the best of Trout yet. I certainly think that he has the ability to surpass Bonds' 00-04, but you gotta admit, that's a lofty goal.

Well Trout hasn't hit his prime. But, going by trend, Trout will be deadly

it's hard to pick against Bonds, but Mike Trout hasn't hit his prime yet...

Is trout allowed to juice? If so I take him over roid-head bonds.

Trout.

Not close.

He hasnt hit his peak yet and is way ahead of where Bonds was at this point in his career.

how old are you? The answer might give an insight why and how this is even a conversation. Juiced up Bonds was the Terminator of baseball. He never stopped... You could not get anything past him and he was being intentionally walked seemingly every other at bat. He was the most indimidating hitter I've ever seen.

If you divided bonds' career up into two - one before the roids, and one after, both players STILL make the hall of fame so in all actuality he should get inducted twice

MLB is selling him short. He's played 5 seasons and could easily have been a 5x MVP. MLB should be promoting him so much more than they are.

Is Bond's prime when he was 36 and on steroids?

If it was when they were in the their mid 20s, it is Trout and its not even close.
Trout has been in the league 5 years, he has finished either 1st or 2nd in MVP voting all 5 years.

Bonds was the best player I've ever seen. Not only was he hitting homeruns at a record clip but he got on base a ton and stole a shitload of bases. Juiced or not he was incredible.

Michael Milken was the best financier I ever saw...lying and cheating whatnot...he made the most money for himself and his investors and was incredible.

(Bonds was a great player pre-roids; but he's mythologized by most people posting who only saw him jacking homeruns like a video game.) Bonds wasn't Paul Bunyan, he was one of the best players but he wasn't talked about as best ever...I grew up in that era...Bonds was another great player...very good player...he wasn't salivated over like when he was jacking 70 homeruns with the head the size of a a Durian fruit.

Bonds is obviously better than Trout but the Bonds apologists need to stop. Bonds wasn't this transcendent player until he started shooting the shite into his veins. Sorry your childhood hero cheated to get better. And it made him a LOT better. He was extremely good...couldn't throw out Sid Bream...but he wasn't this guy is the best player on the planet pre-roids.

Thats why he took roids. He felt he wasn't getting the love and accolades from the public and press.

For the 1st 5 years of a career, trout has performed better than anyone else ever. And he's not on steroids. Was roided up bonds better than a young trout? Sure, but apples to apples (no roids for bonds) and trout is easily better.

That would be a good debate:
Which player had the greatest 1st 5 years of their career?

Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, or Ralph Kiner

I don't know if Trout is clean but he's certainly not doing whatever the hell Bonds was doing. Bonds didn't gaf how obvious the roid usage was.

Griffey was a superior player to pre juiced Bonds. Although its close and Griffey personality got him points....as one poster already said Bonds Pittsburgh and pre 99-00 SF career was HOF caliber...but if my 10 yr old self remembers correctly, Griffey was easily the better player of the two.
