re: If you're a Heat fan on here, why?

I was born in Boynton Beach Florida. I have lived in Palm Beach County for the last 12 years. Before that I lived in North Carolina until just before they got the hornets and then in La. until just before they got the Hornets. So I have sort of liked the hornets in the past, but I didn't really care about them. When Shaq (LSU alum, and my favorite player) came to Miami and I already lived here, it really sold me on them.

The only think wrong in this thread is grown arse men getting angry at who and why other grown men root for...
You could cheer for the MJ lead Looney Tunes for all I give a frick

I see nothing wrong with basing your favorite team off your favorite player.
I dont see whats wrong with some people being fans of teams and others being fans of individuals. The NBA is 100000X easier to root for individual players over teams than any other sport.
And I don't see what is wrong with disagreeing with this whole idea either. I understand it, but I don't like it. Apparently I am not allowed to have my own opinion though.

Having an opinion and question people's manhood/integrity based on who they root for are two wildly different concepts. You are doing the latter.

You are, but so are we.
We cheer and enjoy sports in a different way. No way is right or wrong.
Unless you're a Bama fan, then you are wrong

Danny Granger is a big reason why I root for the Pacers btw.
I find the game more enjoyable rooting for individuals, personally.
And then last year I was in Indiana for the Heat vs Pacers series. Didnt get to go to a game but I was downtown for two of em. It was awesome.

I don't let sports dictate my way of life, like some of these butthurt fellas do. I get home after a long day, grab a beer, and enjoy watching LeBron drive the lane on whatever poor soul tries to be a hero and stand in his way.

I got a little frustrated. Some of the Heat fans on this board are unbearable at time. (which I was most likely as well)

Mine doesn't go that deep
I've had Paul George on my fantasy team since he was drafted so I follow a lot of Pacer games
And I like West from his NO days...
Suck it haters

You're not a legit Heat fan is the point of my post.
I know...I never claim to be.

He used to single handily beat my Grizzlies every time they played.

I'm a LeBron fan. I enjoy witnessing greatness.

The Heat are a good team... But I don't care what ANYBODY says. David Stern would be hearing BAD VIBES if they lost last night....... I really don't want to say [FIXED] Cause Miami is the better team and Chicago is depleted. BUT..........
Chicago won the 1st game fair and square, and last night you could pretty much tell during the 2nd quarter that the fouls were building up on the Bulls and its using the end of the bench..........

Jesus Christ PJ.
Do the Heat have to win by 100 for it to be legit?

Here's the thing- when you change favorite teams every three years, the moments aren't nearly as big as they are for a true fan.
When the Saints won the Super Bowl in 2009, I almost literally felt as if my life was complete. The feeling of seeing Brees hoisting the Lombardi will forever rank as one of the awesome moments in my life. I know it sounds crazy, but I thought about lifelong friends and family members that had passed on that didn't get to see it. I spoke with relatives about the Super Bowl that I hadn't talked to in years. In a weird way it became a common bond for my close family and friends. Why? Because of decades of rooting for the Saints through thick and thin. For cheering them through the paper bag days. For buying tickets during the shitty 80s and mid-90s. For knowing that one day, it would all be worth it.
But when you cash in your fan card and change favorite teams every other year, your fan experience will never stack up. Sorry- staying dedicated to one team and making that emotional investment to one franchise is what a true fan experience is all about.
It seems that fans who shift allegiences from the Lakers to the Bulls to the Heat are far less passionate and knowledgeable about the game.

Lulz at comparing the saints Super Bowl to any team winning an nba championship.

Yea, really.
I mean I get what he is saying and he is right to a smaller degree. But not to the degree in the example he gave.

This is true. I don't get even 1/1000 of the enjoyment from the Heat winning and Alabama winning. But that's 100% ok because I'm not a HUGE basketball fan. If I was I'd have a team.
