You jumped on a bandwagon in the 80's. They are jumping on it now. What makes you better than them. Maybe they live in a place that doesn't have a team like you did. Get over yourself you. Oh, and I was the only one with a rebuttal. You immediately went to name calling "kid."

Not really a fan but do enjoy watching them so I get lumped in a lot. I was a Shaq fan his entire career pulling for every team he played for. I spent a lot of time watching him play with Wade and a little time with LeBron. Enjoyed watching both of those guys play, so when Shaq retired, I kind of just became a watcher of the Heat. I'm learning to stake my roots with the Pelicans as they are the home team though. Just never was a fan of one team as Shaq moved quite frequently.

So how are you different than someone who just became a Heat fan in the last 3 years?

This:

so you just prove my point that most so-called heat fans are really lebron peterpuffers.

follow a team like a real fan and stick with them. then maybe you would garner some respect.

and this:

quote:

So you actually are just a player's fan then? No loyalty to any team? Strange but ok

are absurd. So it is completely normal to like a corporation, but it is ridiculous if you are a fan of an employee?

I'm a huge McDonald's fan. I've been eating there since 1984 and I'll continue to do so even if their food sucks. If they trade my favorite fry chef to Burger King, it would be ridiculous for me to venture over to the BK Lounge and have some of his fries.

Give me a break.

I understand enjoying the talents of a player, but choosing that as a way to determine your fan hood is so stupid. Now if you all stick with the Heat when LeBron leaves next year that is what a real fan would do.

I respect the guy who has been a fan of the Celtics for over 30 years. It is not like they dominated every year since then. I remember some pretty terrible years actually.

You become a fan of team for some reason when you are young and you stick with them.

In basketball it is such a gay arse move to base your fanhood on the best player in the world because what no matter who he plays for they will never be bad.

Grow a pair and stick with a team for more than 5 years.

How is you hopping on a wagon in 83' (when the Celtics dominated the league) any different from Heat fans hopping on a wagon now?

Just because you've been riding that wagon for 30 years doesnt make you any different...

It's one thing to casually root for certain teams over others.

I still say, however, to claim to be a true "fan" of a team for which you have no natural connection whatsoever, is damn silly.

People have almost always been fans of a player than the team itself, especially these days.

Meh, I'm the opposite. I'd rather root for a player that I have no connection to than some arbitrary team.

Does that make it any better?

People become fans for many reasons, but its pretty shitty to change favorite teams just because your favorite player left.

It makes sense to follow your favorite player in professional sports because they have little choice as to which team they will play for. I pulled for the Bulls as a young kid because of MJ. I pull for the Heat now because of LeBron. DWI

The butthurt is strong in this thread

Can you even answer the question I asked you? Why did you choose the winningest team in NBA history? What makes you different from somebody who does not have a team remotely close and chooses to follow the Heat?

You sound really butthurt

the same reason you become a fan when you're older.....a single player. I guess age determines "bandwagon" status.

so the whole "bandwagon" angle is about winning? yeah, that's "such a gay arse move" lulz

What makes 5 the magic number? Some excel formula for bandwagonness?

Well the NBA would be pretty worthless if they didn't market their stars. It is what it is.

Because he has been a fan for 30 years.

Many people who are Heat fans today will not be in 5 years.

It is pretty simple I don't understand what is so difficult to understand.
