Whether he wants to or not his body won't let him play any longer.

Among active, he might be. But Rivers and Palmer would have a debate. Newton as well, although his career is just getting started..

Only good thing is when he retires my blood pressure should go wwwaaayyy down. He's made one helluva career highlight reel. People are quick to call him a shite qb but for the first 7 years of his career he was running for his life! And when he wasn't running, the ball was hitting him in the chest while he was pointing out assignments to the oline and receivers!!!!

Also has a coach who loses games by accidentally icing his own kicker.

Again, he is out of gtd money IIRC. This isn't baseball, they will probably end up cutting him anyways next spring

that would be almost $20 million in dead money. Ouch

Yes, I would hang it up, and not worry about the choking jokes as I sit on piles of cash.

I think the decision will be made for him. From just the preseason Prescott has shown he's a better QB at this point. I believe he would have beaten Romo out this year even if he had stayed healthy.

There was literally zero chance of that happening, even if Dak played out of his mind all preseason, and Romo took a steaming shite on the field between downs.

He's got a lot of golf to play. If he keeps this shite up, he's gonna be eating through a straw.

With the sudden & electrifying rise of Dakota Prescott he may never start again. If the Cowbys start off 6 - 3 or better with the losses not being prescott's fault then I wouldn't start him.

IF he does, you can't blame him. 2 back injuries isn't anything to frick with. He'll want to play with his kids, exercise and play golf when he's 60. He's 36 years old now, and has made a lot of $ already.

If the doctors tell me this is a freak injury and will be 100% without potential reinjury at the current site, I'd play after the 10 weeks.

Really? Never seen a spine surgery, have you?

The reporters don't know what they're talking about. The article I just read said he has "a fractured vertebrae. He'll be out a number of weeks."

Well, for starters, "a" is singular while "vertebrae" is plural. If he had one fractured vertebra, look at a picture of a spine and listen to a usual fix. They'll slice a foot long cut down his back, then use an electric cautery called a bovie to burn through the tissue to expose the spine. Then they'll cut out the full centrum of a vertebra, put an expandable cage in between the vertebral bodies above and below, expand the cage and fill it with a bone matrix. To stabilize the spine during the time the bone grows to fuse the above and below vertebrae, they'll put titanium screws into the pedicle bones above and below and run titanium rods between the screws (which will remain there forever), then they'll sew him back up. The bone fusion and metal instrumentation will prevent those segments from ever bending again, so the discs between the other vertebrae will be put under additional stress. Normal people who aren't football players often end up with herniated discs above and below due to that stress. And if the instrumentation breaks (happens all the time with normal people not getting hit by 300 pound linemen) he'll have those rods stabbing into his back.

So, you'd jump back in there after 10 weeks? Brilliant idea!

To not put the franchise in complete ruin w/ those salaries, they might have to roll with Dak or another QB in next years draft & keep him as a spot starter.

Don't trade for fricking Cutler

Good Holy God! You think a rookie 4th rounder is better than a vet that owns every passing record for one of the best franchises in the history of the NFL? You should have probably kept this opinion to yourself.

My prediction is he doesn't play this season. I haven't read what exactly the injury is other than a compression fracture. Not sure if that's like a stress fracture to a lumbar, but if it is similar, he's out for the year and possibly longer whether he wants to hang it up or not.

What is "a lumbar"? Lumbar is an adjective, used to describe the 5 vertebrae between the thoracic and sacral regions. The article I read didn't indicate the spinal level, but compression fractures typically happen at the thoracolumbar junction. If they do a corpectomy as I indicated above, he simply should never play again.

You left out he nailed Jessica Simpson (dukes of hazard era) and Carrie underwood.

Now a hot wife and kids. Hang em up Romo.

At this point, if he continues, he is in a wheelchair or a life long pain pill guy.

I too loathe the Cowboys. I've learned to like Aikman on TV. So I hope Romo hangs them up.
