Woodheads value is more of a passing down guy (routes, blocking). Teams three a lot less then and even less to RBs. He is not a between the tackles kind of guy. He would be good but don't think a HOFer
That's true in today's NFL... but back then, his ability between the tackles would be way better due to the competition.

ETA: Go ahead and look at the height and weight of the 1950 NFL pro bowlers.

the Olinemens are 6-3 250 pounds max.

Or Suh? They would both have 200 sacks.

HA! No. If you just all of a sudden dropped an athlete from today to the 50's and 60's they probably wouldn't last a whole game.

If by wouldn't last a game you mean that they'd dominate so badly that they became bored and quit, then I agree 100%.

If you mean that today's players who are all bigger, stronger, and faster than just about everyone from the 50/60's, but the game would be too "physical" for them and they wouldn't be "tough" enough for it, then I'd like to lol at you.

He would be a Hall of Famer without question. And maybe regarded as one of the best football players ever. He would be so far ahead of his time.. he would put up video game numbers.

Hell, throw Kenny Hilliard in that era.. Or any good D1 player, and he's a hall of Famer.

That's why when comparing players from different generations should always be relative.

Babe Ruth is the greatest baseball player of all time, but bring him into 2014 and he might not even be a starter in today's MLB.

Babe Ruth wouldn't even be in the MLB. Pitching now is so far and beyond anything Babe Ruth ever saw.

It's obvious with Watt or Suh. I brought up Woodhead SOLEY because of his size handicap

Your example was perfect. Woodhead is small today, but at 200lbs he would have been on the heavier side of NFL rbs in the 50's. His 4.3 speed and 39 inch vertical though would have made him a freak

Why? He would have never gotten a clean release off the line, and would have been killed.

Do you know what NFL players did back then during the offseason? They went back to their regular jobs.

Woodhead would have owned them.

If Woodhead were to have played in that era, then shouldn't we assume he would have been raised on that era's nutrition and workout regimes? Woodhead might have been playing at about 170lbs given his 5'8" height, and without the modern training he might not be quite so fast.

Ruth would probably be fine after a period of adjustment. He's already a great hitter, and would just have to learn to adapt to today's pitching.

Football players, however, would be totally outclassed, especially linemen. Only the very best of skill players would have a chance today.

I dont think that is what the OT intended. It is a pointless conversation that way. I think we want to know how Danny Woodhead would do if he met Dr. Emmett Brown and traveled back to the 50's.
