Since when did W stand for "escape."

Besides what do you call New England's 3 end of game Super Bowl victories, and their two close non-victories?

Are they 1-2-3? Win-Escape for NY-Escape?

For the record a 16-0 Patriots team lost to a 9-7 Giants team, funny how when you play games records mean nothing, college doesn't get that. NFL for the win.
While I'm enjoying NFL more in recent years, I will add that it was a 10-6 Giants teams, not 9-7. Carry on.

So Alabama is out with Florida loss right?

No, that doesn't DQ Alabama. Alabama could go over Washington, Oklahoma, Ohio State or Clemson.

Just not over Florida.

I can't stand Ohio St but they deserve to be in. They have the hardest strength of schedule and only lost one game playing away from home.

1. Ohio State deserves to go in over Penn State.

2. Ohio state would absolutely go over Penn State if the roles were reversed. You're an idiot if you believe otherwise. Penn State would get the shaft for sure.

That's just how it is.

They also lost to Pittsburgh.

So did Clemson. Pitt is good this year.

In this case, it means everything.

Penn st still has one more loss than Ohio st. Pittsburgh is not bad but they have 4 losses. If Penn st would have went to Ohio st and won the game, it would possibly make the decision closer.

If Florida was in the top 5 or 6, then yes.

If PSU or Wisconsin were around the 15-20 range and OSU was in the top 5 then yeah OSU should get in no questions asked. But since they're all so close in the rankings this will cause some controversy.

I agree. Ohio State is obviously a very good team and just has the one loss so I have no issue with them being in the field.

I also agree that they'd be in if the roles were reversed. The narrative would include phrases like:

"they overcame early adversity, improved and took care of their business to win a very tough conference"

"the committee feels that no one is playing better right now"

PSU is a POS for facilitating the rape of young boys.

That said, they also lost to Michigan and Pitt and didn't play Wisconsin.

The fact that a 9-7 Giants team was crowned NFL champ for beating the 16-0 Patriots, and only a month after the Patriots had already beaten the Giants in the regular season, shows the shortcoming of the NFL playoff system. It made no sense logically and proved how little the regular season means.
