If he's so great how come he hasn't had a great coach join him wherever he's been?
I would think great coaches would line up wanting to coach the goat. Yet he's had Blatt, Brown, Silas and Spoelstra. Hmmmmmmm

There aren't many great coaches. He can't create a great coach. Pop isn't moving to Cleveland. who else is great? Doc maybe but what has he done with out Thibs by his side? Players do more to make coaches look great than vice versa.

Blatt is really well respected from his experience overseas. I thought LeBron would run him last year for a puppet like Mark Jackson, but I respect him for not doing that yet.

I think Spoelstra did a good job in Miami with Lebron, and Blatt proved he can coach during the finals last year.

There are very few great coaches in the NBA right now. And rarely are they without a job and on the market.

Interesting. Read this two days ago.

How LeBron James is Building an Empire in Cleveland

Hardly the final word, but this stood out, and I think we've all seen it:

quote:

In October, at the Cavs' first intrasquad scrimmage, LeBron gathers his teammates during warm-ups and puts them through their paces, calling out the plays as they run the court in 5-0 offense situations. It's a harbinger of things to come. "The Princeton offense that Blatt installed in the preseason, they just threw that out," ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst notes months later on Bill Simmons' B.S. Report podcast. "What typically happens -- and this has been happening for like three months now -- is LeBron will take the ball and call the play. Blatt will see what play LeBron calls and he'll repeat it to the team. That happens on a regular basis."

He was trying that crap in Miami until Wade told him to cool it. Wade told him you don't want Reilly coming down here practicing us for 3 hours running sprints and shite.

since 2003, how many legitimately great coaches have been in the NBA?

GOAT pop, obviously

phil jackson, too

pat riley, who retired before lebron could be a FA (then was crucial in miami signing him)

those 3 coaches account for 7 titles since 2003. 2 more titles in that era were LBJ's teams coached by spo

otherwise you've got larry brown (who didn't last much longer after his title and LBJ could not have played for), doc rivers (who coached a team to a title that actually started what LBJ is accused of starting), rick carlisle (good coach but historically great? doubtful), and steve kerr (who has been a coach for all of 1 year)
