If it were any team but Alabama, would the media be clamoring for a rematch?

Replace Bama with MSU and I don't think it stays that way.

Really, I don't think it is a big leap to bama. It isn't as if there are other compelling options

If this were any other SEC West team everyone would just go "they had their chance, didn't win".

If you reverse the outcome of that game, no one even mentions rematch in the media

Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, come to mind.

Not the only team. However, the only reason they have a chance is that almost everyone seems to think they are 2nd best team by a sizable margin.

This kind of consensus opinion could probably only happen for a team that's on a run of impressively strong teams over years like LSU is now, USC or Florida teams from a few years back etc ect. . .

But in the media's defense. Even in losing to LSU they certainly passed the "eye test" that they were on a similar level where every other team with a chance now has had a serious eye sore instead.

Sorry, I read the question as:

If it were any team but Alabama, would the media be clamoring for a rematch?

replace the name OK State(1 loss Big 12 team) with OU or Texas and there wouldn't be a rematch

Yeah but no other sec west team has been as good and consistent as Bama has for the last 4 years.

You really need to stop with this paranoid media pushing for a rematch nonsense.

Make a case that Bama is totally unworthy or STFU

But, to answer your question now that I know the context...

Would depend on the team's resume. If they have played as well as Bama and had quality wins like LSU's then I could see it happening. But, no one else has that resume this year.

That's my point, what does 2008, 2009, or 1941 have to do with 2011?

All I'm saying is replace the name and the "tradition" of Alabama with Mississippi State. MSU is 11-1 with big wins over everyone but a close loss at home to LSU. I don't think the national media is clamoring for a rematch in that scenario.

These are the only really legit candidates to play LSU:

Alabama
Ok State
Stanford
Va Tech
Houston

There is no reasonable argument to exclude Bama simply because they already played the #1 team. I'm not saying they should get it, but its laughable to say any argument for them is bogus and just pushing an agenda.

Not a single media pundit would claim it. At all.
