If Baton Rouge had a minor league hockey team again, would you support it?

Some of my best and favorite memories from my childhood were Kingfish games.

I don't live in BR anymore but with the recent success of the SPHL, they have been expanding with more teams in the south and north in Indiana and Illinois. I think it could happen. Obviously you would need an ownership group to come forward.

How is the rivercenter these days? And my main question would you and to what extent would you support a minor league hockey team in BR? For people that live there and around

I doubt it. Maybe two games a season tops.

I'd support another New Orleans team. Not so much Baton Rouge.

I'd support kiwis if they weren't as hairy and skidded more efficiently across the ice. I say if BR has a local hockey team again, that they should use frozen hairless kiwis as pucks. THEN, I might support them.

No. I went to a decent amount of games, but that was a fad that played itself out over the course of a few years. It was almost like a nightclub that had its good run for a little while, then dried up. I think there would be almost zero interest in bringing that back to BR.

That league had a nice little 3-4 year run on the I-10 corridor....teams in Lafayette, BR, New Orleans, Jackson, Biloxi, Mobile, Pensacola, and Tallahassee....but like I said, I think the fad wore off and by 2005, all of the teams were pretty much gone.

Hard to believe the last Kingfish game in BR was 13 years ago.

I think the Brass would still be around if we had a suitable arena for them... a nice modern 6-7k one in Metairie or somewhere like that

Would definitely support it though I don't know how much support they would get from the general public.

Mudbugs are back playing in Shreveport so anything is possible. Might be a better chance of BR landing an NAHL team alongside Shreveport over a full pro team (less cost). Granted, Shreveport was a much more successful franchise than Baton Rouge.

Would not care at all. Might go out once or twice as a novelty.

No. I have been to high school, college, and NHL games. Minor league hockey is the lowest and most debased form of minor league sports in the country. Minor league baseball is the best, the NBADL, the old CBA were and are good leagues. Hell, Semi-pro football-minor league football, puts on a better product than minor league hockey.

Basically the level of the ECHL and similar leagues past and present is about a hot goaltender or a guy who can fight and skate. The Kingfish and others was not the place to see the next great hockey players. The future Eric Lindros or future Steve Yzermans never played in the ECHL.

It's a crappy game and I got tired of hearing "how long is half-time anyway"
