Anyone go to these games? Was interested in going tomorrow night to get my hockey fix in but it says tickets are $17? Seriously for that low level of hockey, $17?! Anyone know of discounts around Lafayette or anything?

I doubt it, they are supposedly moving to the Cajundome again but idk if it will help.

They aren't in the ECHL, but yes the league still exists. It's essentially the Double-A league for hockey.

Of course the ECHL still exists. It's the premiere AA hockey league.
This Icegators team isn't in the ECHL.

Living in Louisiana and liking hockey, I'd love to have an ECHL option at least... not this SPHL stuff.

The games are fun, and the Gwinnett Arena is fairly big for an ECHL team (I would guess).
I go intown for the Thrashers, too. Fun stuff.

It used to be awesome in the dome with all the fights and beer, plus cheerleaders shooting t shirts into the stands.

The Icegators used to be the South Carolina Stingrays main rival back in the 90s. That's who they beat to win the Kelly Cup championship. They used to draw like 10,000/game.

Yeah they had some good teams but never could win the Cup or whatever. Other teams i remember were: BR Kingfish, NO Brass, Mississippi Seawolves, Mobile Mystics, and Pensacola IcePilots.

Yes, it does. But this incarnation of the Icegators is not in the ECHL, which is a Double A league. This Icegator team is Single A.

The Kingfish-Icegators dynamic gave me a very very very small taste of what it must be like to be a ULL fan.
