I like high school football. I used to go to games when I was in HS. I follow my high school via the newspapers and internet and friends back home and I will go watch my high school play. I will watch the state championships when they are on TV.

But, you have to be kidding me if I'm going to watch two high schools that i have no connection to whatsoever play each on ESPN or Fox or whatever in the regular season. This is crazy. I have no problem with people of the town or people who have family or friends on the team watching high school football in the stands, listening to local radio or watching on cable access tv or local tv, but this is crazy.

Some of you watching need to get lives. What's next? Junior High or JV football to watch a 14 year old who is rising up the recruiting charts?

As long as the Little League World Series is on tv, I don't think we can complain about HS football.

I plan on watching this all day. 2 Texas schools playing in the new Cowboys facility at 12:30, St. John Bosco out of Cali right after, and Bishop Gorman in the night cap. Love me some High School football

IMG Academy plays today as well

You are posting on a forum about how other people need to get lives because of what they choose to watch on tv. I want you to think about that.

Nobody cares what you watch or refuse to watch. People with a lot more pull than you, i.e. advertisers, have decided that a lot of people will watch.

We do not care if you watch Lifetime all afternoon. Why do you care what we watch?

I love watching talented and Non talented kids playing hard for their hometowns or seas. These kids represent their communities and you watch some kids that truly play the game for the love of it not bc they will be playing at another level

I wish more of it was available.

It only helps kids get exposure and it's cheap to produce. ESPN ratings have plummeted.

Less Jamele Hill and race baiters and more St. Augustine vs. John Curtis, more Texarkana (TX) vs. Texarkana (AR), more Jenks vs. Union, more KC Rockhurst vs. StL Christian Brothers, more Webb City (MO) vs. the World.

I'd love to see games that didn't even have big time prospects, It'd be cool to see all sorts of different traditions and styles of football from all over the country.

Give me some Oklahoma 8-man football, some inner-city Los Angeles football, some Ft. Pierce brawlin', some Belle Glade vs. Pahokee. frick IMG Academy and the St. John's Bosco's. Give me Plano East v. West. Give me some tiny Nebraska and Iowa farmtown football.

I don't need a behind the scenes reality show to sell it, that'd be cool though but there's enough interesting games out there to make it work.

I agree. I just won't watch on ESPN. I support people going to see their local high school football play.

I am not watching, but I think it's pretty neat that they get an opportunity to play on ESPN.

You would actually REALLY hate me for what I am watching, which is the Little League World Series. And no, I did not go down to the local ball field to watch one single little league game this year.

You sure do get emotional over something being on TV that you aren't interested in.

I don't have to "refuse" to watch it. I'm not offended. I just have no interest, and change the channel.

The reason those games are broadcast nationally is because the college prep schools go out and recruit the top talent in the nation to come play. When you have several 5 stars on your team with multiple d1 offers people enjoy watching them play especially if one of the kids will be playing on your team next year.

I will watch img play tonight when they take on grason. You need to get your head out of the dirt and realize there are a lot of people doing good things that help people succed in life.
