I could be misremembering if it was ESPN 2 but I do feel there used to be a fair amount of strong man competitions on there. Something I’d never go out of my way to watch but it was hard to change the channel once it was on

OG History Channel lives on as the American Heroes Channel and the Military History Channel. Just checked AHC and it's all day docs on Hitler and Stalin, just finishing a show on Peleliu and a show on Pearl Harbor up next.

Hell, I think that stuff was on ESPN itself back when they first started.
Loved Aussie Rules Football on the original ESPN. Sports Center was great because ESPN didn't have any contracts with NFL, NBA, or MLB.

Can't find a gif of the Aussie Rules ref from the early days, but here's a YouTube video of it.

American Heroes Channel does still show some good stuff. The Apocalypse Stalin, Apocalypse Hitler, Apocalypse WW1, etc stuff is really good. WW2 in Colour, Hitler's Bodyguard, etc. All great stuff.

I remember ESPN also showed "games from around the world" (some name like that). It showed crazy obscure games from remote places. 80s and 90s was the GOAT to grow up in and be a young adult.

Yes just a half hour never ending highlight loop, that was glorious.

Do they still carry the press conferences with players after the NBA playoff games? I liked listening to those. Sometimes guys would crack jokes on them. I was the butt of a joke during that setting once.

During the playoffs, German reporters came to cover Dirk. They would ask Dirk questions in German. After Dirk had answered a question for them in German, then told us what was asked and how he answered, I asked Michael Finley a question. I got kind of tongue tied when I asked it & I had to ask it over the way I intended it. Michael replied, "Did you ask that in German".

The joke wasn't that funny, but him asking it sitting at a table, on a stage, with recorders running & cameras rolling, was hilarious. I laughed too.

Kiana’s Flex Appeal. LeAnn Tweeden on Fitness Beach. I was healthier in those days.
