The same folks saying they miss the "toughness" of the 90s would be carping about how "thuggish" the league is today if the circumstances were reversed

Yea, Lebron is literally the most well equipped player to excel in those days.

I can't wait until he starts whining about not getting more rest during the All Star break again.

And it's obvious when people trot out ex All stars like Bob McaDoo on the Lakers as proof of Super Teams don't know what the hell they speak of.

McAdoo being a part of a Superteam is about as ridiculous as Shaq forming a Super duo with Lebron in Cleveland.

Or that Super Team Shaq was part of in Phoenix with Nash , Grant Hill & Stoudamire

Its obvious you simply google rosters of the past without knowing what the hell you're talking about.

I m not sure if McAdoo ever started a game with the Lakers & played less minutes than Shaq in Cleveland or Phoenix

In the 1984 finals, this is a list of Hall of famers that were on both teams. There were 9 HOF in the series

Hall of Famers Celtics:

Aren't you're the same guy that was suggesting that Bellichick was relatively successful in Cleveland with 4 losing seasons in 5 years ?

I know you didn't realize Bellichick coached the Ravens( old Browns) who had won 4 Division titles & played in 3 AFC Championships the previous 5 seasons before Bellichick. And won 2 Super Bowls & 1 within 5 seasons after he left. Not the expansion Browns.

Just like you don't understand an injury riddled ex all star like Bob McAdoos role in L.A. because you pull up old rosters .

Stop being so defensive.

Didn't those 80s no defense playing Lakers-Finals series have as many as 8 HOFers playing at 1 time?

So you're sticking with an aging injury riddled Bob McAdoo as forming a Super Team with the Lakers? Just like Shaq & Lebron in Cleveland? Shaq & Nash in Phoenix?

If MJ was a punk ( which he wasn't), But if he was a punk like Durant & bailed on Chicago in 1987 to play with the Knicks with Barkley & Ewing they kill the value of Chicago/ Philly.

If Wilkins & Olajuwon were chumps like Lebron & bailed for the Lakers it kills the value of Atlanta ( 1st superstar) & Houston.

Those would have been Superteam, not these old 80' s rosters with Bob McAdoo you are pulling up.

"I don't think having 2 Suoerteamss is good for the NBA"- Adam Silver.

Both he & Stern seemed a bit disgusted with their superstars ( Durant & Lebron,) lack of balls.

Your just using him to deflect my point because you know it's correct.

Magic
Kareem

Parish
Bird
McHale

And if Cleveland drafted a top 50 all timer to play along with Lebron, he would have won titles and never left, so what's your point?

Almost all of the stars today are elite passers. What street ball game are you playing at where the stud is passing the ball?

Wait, you don't appreciate the in your face ultra competitive nature of superstar Kevin Durant??!!! My favorite KD moment this year was when they highlighted his "drive" shooting in the gym after a loss saying over and over again "EVERYBODY AGAINST ME"........................................with a camera crew filming him.

Seems you are deflecting from your obvious ignorance just because youve googled old rosters & see " HOF" you are comparing them to peak Durant joining peak 2 time/ reigning MVP.

Robert Parish has never been "Super" besides most thinking him Super Solid or Super ugly.

Parish was neither an All Star nor top 5 player at his own position(C) when he was traded.

At his position ( let alone entire league) in alone in 1980 he wasn't even considered top 5:

Kareem

Artis Gilmore

Bob Lanier

Moses Malone

Bill Walton

Even Bill Cartwright 20/10 & Jack Sikma were arguably more regarded & honored( awards) at the time.

Name me 5 or 6 forwards not named LeBron that are considered better than Durant.

If Parrish never leaves the Warriors there is a chance he never makes an All Star ( Kareem / Malone / Sikma & a young Olajuwon in the wings).

000000000000.000000000% chance he is a HOF. A case of Chicken or the egg.

Because Parish in 5 seasons wasnt even considered an All star ,but solid.

Parrish after 6 seasons miraculously became a perennial all star when joining Larry Bird & 61 win Celtics powerhouse/multiple Championships.

That Durant is a punk?( Basketball speaking at least)

Westbrook & having a 3-1 lead over the Warriors wasnt good enough?

LeBron had pretty good teammates in Miami & he left .

I guess he's a bigger man than me because I would have never played for that owner in Cleveland after the insults.

Somewhat with the "And 1" palming/ carrying that you all call the greatest handles.

Im quite sure if players of the past were allowed to carry/ palm the ball they would be more fluid / efficient.

No, it wasn't. But I also find the attitude that everything is awesome now to be equally asinine. There's tradeoffs. The game used to be a lot more physical, and I do miss those fights and toughness. That said, the tradeoff is that LeBron can attack the basket aerially and not worry that someone is going to undercut him before he lands, potentially ruining his career.

The lack of toughness is a REQUIREMENT for the high level of skill we see now. Players aren't allowed to negate skill by hand checking, well-timed intents to injure, and flat out violence. This is better. I know its better. But to think it came without a cost is silly.

It doesn't mean I don't miss Anthony Mason. Or the Bad Boy Pistons. Or hell, Danny Ainge. Pro sports used to be more violent and tougher. But eliminating a lot of that extra-curricular stuff has allowed pure skill and talent to perform unmolested in not just the NBA, but the NHL and NFL, too. (Well, the NHL has other problems with obstruction, but you can't give the league's best player a concussion for failing to buckle his chinstrap anymore)
