Would be known as a POS if he left penn st. for another job? Thoughts? How would you feel about it?

If he gets out of there and can parlay it into another job, PSU should thank him for this year and STFU.

I don't see him being there long. He looks like he will be a pretty good HC in the future.

POS is too strong but he'd get some pushback

frankly I wouldn't like it. He knew what he was walking into. This isn't a Al Golden situation where he didn't know he was gonna get hammered

If he committed to them knowing what the deal was he should stick it out IMO

I don't think he owes PSU anything... hell, they should thank him regardless.

FWIW, I doubt he'd leave any time soon.

I don't think people would blame anyone for leaving PSU

Outside of Penn State fans I think everybody realizes he'd be stupid not to take another job.

This x A Shitload.

The job he has done this season in a NO-WIN situation has been ridiculously good. The fact that he's handled it all with class should make Penn State eternally grateful even if he does bolt after this season.

Media probably wouldn't make him seem like a POS. I think every football fan in the nation knows that he had no idea what he signed himself into.

Gotta say that I'm shocked how well he has coached his team so far. No one thought they would be 5-2 (3-0 in conference play) after all the shite that went down in Happy Valley.

If he took an NFL job = any rational person would understand.

If he took another college job he would take a TON of heat for it

when o'brein took the job, the ncaa hadn't even decided if it was going to take action or not, IIRC... the NCAA sanctions came down extremely quick.

I think it's safe to say O'brien had no clue the sanctions/player defections would be this significant.

I agree, I'm not sure Penn State can say anything if he wants to leave. PSU put themselves in this shite, and really only a crazy person would want to coach there right now (no offense to O'Brien but.. come on). They should be grateful as hell that he even wanted to coach there in the first place.

He had it built into his contract that he received an extension if severe penalties were levied. I think he knew what was coming, and wanted to make sure Penn State couldn't just fire him if the team sucked.

He's not going anywhere else in college football for the next 3-4 seasons after this one. He's a Northeast guy and there aren't any football schools in the Northeast with nearly the resources and draw that Penn State has (here come the flamers).

If he leaves before 2016, it'll be for a NFL job, perhaps even Belicheat retiring.

Tennessee might come knocking. Bill Obrien is clearly a very good coach , I don't know much about him other than that. But I do know he is smart, and so is his wife, getting a contract extension for every year PSU got probation/sanctioned was ingenious

What are you talking about? People had no idea it went as far as it has and the NCAA hadn't even made a ruling yet.
