At any point did you feel like saying you were going to the restroom and bolting the restaurant was a viable option?

He was on the dinner's fringe...the coaches who recruited the players were eating with them. Tommy made an appearance, said a few words, never lied or anything and then said good night and excused himself. He never said he was going to bathroom. Tommy is all class with a record of head coaching success...when these things happen quick, awkwardness can't be helped.

Again, he likely excused himself from the table. Which is different than going to the restroom and not coming back.

Different but not exactly professional either IMO.

You can say he didn't lie outright but a lie of omission is still a lie.

What is your opinion based on? Do you know Tommy? Did you go to AU or TT? Did you play with him at SAU? You really know nothing about him, other than about his good success at AU and TT!

Only better way he could have handled that would be to bow out of the dinner all together.

leaving the question unanswered and not returning the table was classless. he should not have attended the dinner or canceled the wk-end recruits visits.

This is the dumbest post today...in any thread...cancel a recruiting weekend? Don't post here again. The head coach is on the periphery. The coaches that recruited the players spend time with them, they meet the head coach, they get "hosted by players" and some get lucky! You are an idiot!!

Love how the writer of the article, who is a Bama Alum, used a picture of Tuberville at Auburn.

Well if I have to play college ball with someone to have an opinion on them I guess I'm in trouble.

We get it. You have some type personal affiliation with Tubbs and you're biased in favor of him.

Yea, he is a great guy...coaches leave quickly, say emotional things all the time, melt down on the sidelines, etc. Tommy is low key and polite compared to most! When the guys head phones came off, Tommy wanted to start laughing, but was trying to act upset! They sprung off and for good effect, took the hat too. Watch Tommy recoil and try not to laugh...he was never out of control!

The guy was jabbering in the headset, blaming others and the coaches couldn't hear each other and he was walking onto the field yelling at players through the headset...as a GA. Tommy was trying to tell him to be quiet...finally he grabbed him and said "don't talk!".

but he handled it as professionally as possible

What? He literally walked out of restaurant to a group of recruits. If that's professional, can I work for you?

They sprung off

They "sprung off" because of the force of Tubbs hand hitting the guys head.

PS when you take to hitting your staff you are out of control.

ETA best case scenario he was trying to grab the guys headphones but that still doesn't make the headphones spring off as if by magic.

Im becoming more and more convinced that the NCAA should allow athlete to transfer without penalty is the head coach leaves the team
