See, I don't know about that. You can beat your rivals and you can win decent bowl games. That helps. When LSU sucked under Hallman, we beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa. That was a nice bright spot.

The SEC won however many national titles in a row, and therefore that got them the benefit of the doubt, and still does. I am not saying it was undeserved, but people didn't REALLY care how else the SEC did in bowl games.

I was so uninterested in the Fiesta Bowl against a historically top 3 team that I had to take a step back from the ledge. I was so disappointed with a 12-1 team

For the Braves, Hornets and Canes? A lot. For the Blue Devils and Steelers, none.

I've never witnessed any of my teams win a championship

Villa just got relegated
Thunder just lost Durant
Vols are hopefully on the up
Falcons are stuck in .500 territory

I'd trade a decent 15 years

So

Go through some really horrible seasons and that puts things right in perspective. I went to LSU during Mike Archer's last two years and Curley Hallman's first two. Those were the days when an Outback Bowl seemed like an impossible dream -- LSU would never be good enough to be the third or fourth best SEC team!
Yeah, I was a little bummed we played Texas Tech in a midweek bowl this year. But we beat the Red Raiders and we looked good doing it. That's a hell of a lot better than sleepwalking through a bowl loss to Notre Dame (like we did the year before)

As a Texas fan, I'd give up a decade of being competitive to win one.

Flags fly forever.

Wild card appearances don't mean shite.

I believe you, but are Philadelphia Phillies's fans happier than Rangers's fans right now? Do you think that title still means enough to soften the blow of garbage season after garbage season?

I mean how many Rangers World Series Champion t-shirts have they sold? As a fan, in 50 years, I think you are more likely to look back fondly on the 3 titles than the 47 other years. That's like my opinion man of course.

Back before '99, I definitely would have traded any amount of mediocrity to see my Spurs win just one title.

Feel kinda the same way about Aggie football. If it does ever happen, I just hope it's something I get to share with my dad. I almost want it to happen more for him than for me

For UGA? 10 years. For any professional franchise in Atlanta, 5.

I think asking Houston fans is more relevant. They sucked for close to a decade and now have a strong core to compete for the next decade.

I've been a hardcore Ranger fan since I was in high school (only counting years where I actually was old enough to be invested emotionally). So that's 2005-present day. Apart from the two WS appearances, this season and last year, there hasn't been a whole lot to be excited about.

The Mavs championship was awesome, but apart from that my sports life has pretty much sucked.

UT won a national championship in 1998 right? that was only 18 years ago so you must be young.

so UT is a perfect example. They were good/very good from 99 till 07 then not so good.

So are Vol fans happy with the last 18 years to get that one??

I wouldn't be but again Im older and being really good year after year has more perks for us oldies

None and it's not even a debate for me. I've been a fan of teams who won multiple championships over a short period of time and teams who went 10+ years without a winning season. The feeling of misery rooting for a perennially bad team is far more intense than the great joy of rooting for a team that wins multiple championships. The joy of winning a championship lasts for a year, maybe even less than that. But the misery of rooting for a perennial loser lasts a lot longer. You feel like there's no light at the end of the tunnel and the team will always be bad. Also, I would much rather have been a fan of the '90s Braves than the Marlins. They had the good fortune of rooting for three future first ballot HOF pitchers for 10+ years along with Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones and a host of other terrific home grown players who stayed around for a number of years.

Falcons-one SB and never win again would be great. But only so the Saints fans would never bring theirs up again.

I didn't start following college ball until the later part of Fulmers reign...so I hopped in just in time for the misery years
