How is it logical for Aaron Rodgers to win MVP but not offensive POY?

It's not like basketball where players play both offense and defense.
So if Aaron Rodgers is the MVP, how would he not also be the offensive player of the year?

Most valuable to your team and best player don't mean the same thing.

In relation to what ? How can most valuable player in the league mean anything BUT most valuable to your team ?
It sure doesn't mean most valuable to the the other teams.
It is called Most Valuable, not best player.

Usually OPOY goes to someone who racks up a ton of yards, usually the most in the league at his position. MVP goes to someone who's team is successful and plays statistically great, though not necessarily setting offensive records. Rodgers only had 4300 yards passing, his TD:INT ratio and team record really got him the MVP. Also I'm pretty sure voters don't like to give both awards to the same person, it suggests that MVP is an offense only award

I really wish they'd just separate the qb from all other positions in terms of these awards. Have a best qb and then one for all other positions. I'd be a big change but I think it'd be better than having the current all inclusive awards that are essentially just for qbs.
