I’m not sure a Qb has ever been put into a position with literally zero help or coaching. For Christ sake wasn’t Matt Patricia his offensive coordinator ??. They have had no playmakers just a really good defense. I know the Pats have new coaches and offense but drake wouldn’t have done shite in Mac’s shoes either and I don’t know they could have used a Malik neighbors to go along with Mac.

They don’t.

Prospects are suspects until proven otherwise.

No one knows for sure, but I’d put a good bit of money on it

They know it’s atleast a 2 year rebuild.

They know they didn’t give Mac enough support and have to do better on that front

They drafted a WR in the second and a tackle in the 3rd. They are addressing the biggest needs.

They’ve been extremely active chasing a vet #1 WR in deebo, Higgins, ayiuk etc and will continue to shake those trees until the right move presents itself

They have an actual offensive staff with experience and a system that fits Drake Mayes skill set.

To answer your question, no one knows Maye will be better than Mac Jones. It’s the draft. These guys are all crap shot dart throws at the QB position. But they are doing more to build in that direction than they did the last two years with Mac. We’ll see if it pans out.

The Mac era had to end. There was no scenario that he was coming back. The pats failed him, but he also ensured to burn that bridge himself with his attitude and lack of care with the ball the final seasons. Just too much baggage there and not enough upside for any party involved. Not sure why you’d even have wanted that to be the scenario. Mac needed a fresh start just as badly as the Pats did in that

Who knew Bill was going to eat his own? I still can't believe what I just witnessed the last 2 seasons from the Pats. But it was past time for Mac Jones to get out of a dead-end situation for him. He can play out his rookie contract in Jacksonville and hopefully get with a team that understands offense. No guarantees.

Two things can be true
Mac isnt a starting caliber qb in the nfl
The patriots totally failed him

No doubt.

I think he’s a starting caliber QB, though.

how do we know this. A QB has to have help. Whether it be a coach, teammates…Mac had nothing if not resistance probably

Mac Jones actually looked pretty solid as a rookie when he had a real OC in McDaniels. Giving him Matt Patricia and Joe Judge as his OCs combined with their inability to scout WRs put Jones in a really bad spot. I think someone is going to give him a shot to start again in 2025 and I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be serviceable.

They don't, but that doesn't mean drafting Maye was the wrong choice.

Just drafted another linemen and Javon Baker from UCF. Not fricking around taking swings to find support this time

Technically, he could start a game in the NFL. But there are probably at least 30 or 35 better QBs than him. He’s bad and any team that relies on him to be their QB will be bad.

Mac Jones is the greatest college qb ever. Ignore him quitting on the pats and not having a dog in him. Needs to play with a bunch of Bama baws to unlock his potential
