My understanding he was one of the greatest horses of the last 25 years or so, why didn't he run the triple crown races? Late bloomer? Where does he compare all time to AP, secretariat, etc.

Late bloomer. Won like 16 consecutive starts.

Horse eventually retired to stud but was shooting blanks.

He was.originally a turf horse and.not a very good one. Bill mott in a last ditch effort to see if he had any.talent whatsoever threw him.in a allowence race on dirt and he literally ran off the tv screen. The rest as they say id history.

Not as big a fan of cigar as most. I think awesome again holy bull and candy ride were all better horses. Mott cherry picked races to keep that strek alive hebran at fricking Suffolk downs lol. Good horse but overrated

Reminds me how much u hate bill mott lol. Most overrated trainer ever. Had one of the best dirt horses in racing history running on turf 2 years.

This is the same guy who told zayat that pioneerof the nile would.never run a step on dirt. Not only did.he come in second in the derby, he sired a triple crown winner in American pharoah.

Today never happens if it were up to bill mott
