Why is it that in soccer matches the home team is always listed first in the matchup listing, while in all other American sports, the home team is listed last?

e.g.

Arsenal vs. Chelsea (Arsenal home)
Falcons vs. Saints (Saints home)

Because we also use the @ symbol. Saints @ Falcons. Home team had to go last.

1. How is it a contradiction?

2. In America, we also tend to use "@", which is why the home team is second.

Example:

Falcons vs. Jaguars
Falcons @ Saints
Falcons @ Bucs
Falcons vs. Rams
Falcons vs. Packers

Etc.

But why do we use the @ symbol?

It comes from team specific schedules:

Ohio State @ Oklahoma
Ohio State vs. Michigan State
Ohio State @ Michigan

Etc.

The good guys always first.

Why does soccer do stupid stuff like counting up and never stopping the clock and adding extra time and nobody knows exactly when the game is going to end?

Tell me what other sports that utilize a clock where this happens.

Yeah but soccer is the only one I can think of where no one knows when the game is going to end. Baseball is clear in the rules that home team gets last chance to bat. Football, hockey, and basketball run to zero on the clock and play OT if tied.

Except in real time I know that every game will actually finish in less than 2 hours unlike every other sport

Football doesn't necessarily end when the clock hits zero.
