I am sure in some 5a schools it is a big advantage . My local school has always been in 2a or 3a and I cannot thnk of it ever being a big deal in our games. What have you experienced and do you think there is an advantage at the HS level?

Yea absolutely, traveling 2 hours to a game in a school bus can really mess with your adrenaline

Not around here....or in Texas. On Friday night the whole town shows up. Always been that way along the river. It's a community thing.

Exactly. The Pit held north of 10,000 people last week, which is far more people than the two nearest towns (Sorrento and Gonzales) combined. STA

Hmm, I remember for a playoff game several years back Rummel went to Sulphur.
It was a packed house and the atmosphere was great. I felt as if I was on the field because the stands are so close to the action.

Go into WM for a playoff game, very few come out a victor. Great HS atmosphere.

When I played high school (whether it was football or lacrosse), I was always more comfortable playing at home. I could get into the same routine pre-game, felt familiar with my surroundings (idk if "sightlines" is the right word to describe, but kind of like that) on the field, was more used to the field itself (we played on FieldTurf), etc. The crowd is not going to make a big difference in HS. A lot fewer people and they're (besides the students and perhaps some parents) going to be much less raucous than a college game. But I still think based on comfort for players, home field advantage exists. Someone else mentioned the bus, as well, which I think is a good point, particularly if you're traveling to a school that's not close.

Over the course of time 99% of teams in all sports at every level will have a better record at home than they have on the road
