Hit implies closed fist. That did not occur.

Yeah, that's a good way to get someone to respect you.

If you are playing high school football, you are past being a child.

In all seriousness from watching the video it looks like the kid is walking off and the coach popped him to get his attention. Would you have been cool with him grabbing him by the shoulder pad and bringing him back to finish talking?

What was in this video wasn't ok. Probably not the biggest deal in the world, but you can't treat people like that.

I've struck a nerve with you, and you're trying to hide that behind material that is irrelevant to this issue.
Negative. I'm bored and playing call of duty. I like coming on here and seeing how disillusioned some of you think. It's a non-issue here.

A coach shouldn't hit a player in the head for two reasons: A) it can be described as abusive B) a kid shouldn't be learning that this behavior is ok. If he grows up thinking that this is acceptable, imagine who he might also treat this way when he's a grown man.
Abusive? Ok, but the contact sport they are playing isn't moreso...
Your right. He shouldn't be learning that behavior is ok. I'm not advocating the physical striking for no apparent reason. What he should be learning is respecting his elders and coaches, and stop being a little fricker.
Imagine how he'll treat people as a grown man without discipline.

In their situation, I would say its ok. Anything outside of that, no bueno.

Either quail man is trolling, or he is the kid that was a senior getting picked on at football practice by the under classmen.

This. And the one that always smelled in the locker room.

You're right. A coach who hits a kid is a thug and needs to be put down.
shite, Woody Hayes got FIRED for hitting a guy in a game. I guess Ohio State was the start of wussification back in '78 according to you knuckledraggers.

A reasonable person would understand that the coach isn't hitting the kid to injure or hurt him. An unreasonable person would teach his kid to hit an adult because the coach slapped him on the helmet.

Woody Hayes punched an opposing player in the throat because said player intercepted a pass. A reasonable person would understand the difference. An unreasonable person would not.

So stupid that this is even a story.
Coach did nothing suspension-worthy in this instance.
This is no more physical abuse than slapping a kid on the arse after a good play is sexual abuse.

Yea dude...did you seriously make that comparison and don't understand the difference? Hayes assaulted the guy...

According to "Mr. Knucledragger" and "guy that got teased all the way through college", it is.

Ballcaster wont let you compare this to a similar situation as it is just spin, but he is comparing this to a slave getting hit by his owner.

You are wrong; I am right. This is not a matter of opinion, but one of fact. Slapping on the head is something masters do to slaves, not what coaches do to players.
Im starting to think this is a pretty good troll. No one is stupid enough to compare this to slavery but wont compare it to a similar football occurance. Well done ball caster, I really thought you were that much of an idiot...
