Than the Celtics from the 80's? Bird was a very good coach taking the pacers to the finals, and has been a pretty good GM/Basketball Ops guy. McHale wasn't all that good with the T'Wolves, but has obviously turned it around in Houston. Rick Carlisle is a championship winner as a player and coach, and Danny Ainge has won as player and GM. Other than older Celtics players who have then coached the celtics to championships, I can't think of another team that has had former players from the same team have this much success.

That team just had championship pedigree. Pretty cool.

90s Bulls may get there with Kerr/Paxson doing ok so far.

A little early to tell since they are only in their 50s as opposed to the 80s team who is 10-15 years older.

Isiah destroyed the CBA and the Knicks.
Billy Laimbeer and I think Mahorn have coached in the WNBA (plus, Mahorn went bankrupt, even with an announcing career).
Rodman wrestled for nWo.
Joe D passed on Carmelo, Bosh, and Wade for Darko Milicic.

Laimbeer has actually won a ring in the WNBA. But does that really count????? Since i hate him, no it doesn't....

For all of his whiffs he does have 2 rings as a player, and 1 as the GM of the pistons. Impressive if he can get on with the Pels and bring one here.

Everyone thought Darko was the 2nd pick. It's not like anyone questioned that pick at the time. It was a year later when it was obvious.

But I guess Dumars winning a championship can be discounted? Although he lucked into greatest coach.

Yeah, Joe definitely gets credit for that championship and having that run without a superstar. It's crazy how he went from genius to idiot in a few short years, though. I just thought the Pistons were a funny comparison. I think John Salley pitches over the counter dick medicine.

Jordan has been pretty bad as an exec. also, you need to check your math, The 80's Celts are not late 60's
They played against Jordan in the playoffs.
