No one said he sucks, but actively caring about triple doubles during the game is pretty bush league. His team is one it also, they will block out there guy and let the rebound go to Westbrook when they could easily grab it.

I wonder if that Phoenix baw goosed himself a few points in that game where he scored 70 or whatever?

He is just out hustling everyone else on the court to those rebounds.

Him getting the board jets them into transition where obviously Westbrook and Oladipo are both major weapons

Everyone knows it's true. Dishonest MSB posters try to deny it.

They win 80% of the games where he gets triple doubles and him getting the rebound means he can instantly push the ball on the break rather than Kanter or Adams slowing the team down and making them have to play half court ball

You didn't know? He cherry picked 20 of his points that game..

Aren't most rebounds uncontested?

Of course it's true. They want him to get boards on the defensive end because it leads to breaks. It's their style of play which leads to him getting lots of rebounds.

Just like Harden playing in a D'Antoni system leads to him padding stats.*

Does it really matter though? He's carrying a shite team to a 5th (?) seed in the West. Let him do his thing how he does it.

Russell Westbrook is the only player to ever do this

Nah man, let's continue to discredit it. Way more fun. I mean why would we embrace the first triple-double average in 50+ years? When the guy doing it is playing like 10 minutes less a game than the Big O?

But let's talk about uncontested rebounds and OKC stat guys.

And that's a load of crap. A pass covers more ground than someone can run.

If Westbrook ran to the outlet when then rebound is in the air, he would already be up the court when Kanter or someone got the rebound and would receive a quick pass.

Acting like it's quicker for him to get a rebound himself and go the full length of the court is pure nonsense that Thunder fans made up in order to justify his stat padding.

I don't care for any threads or discussions about Westbrook "goosing" stats or playing for triple doubles when the only stat that matters - win % - as of last week was the Thunder are .833 when Westbrook gets a triple double and a .30-something win team when he does not.

That is unreal. So however he chooses to get a triple double, I don't care, because that is the key to a W as well.
