Have college teams just given up on lining up under center on short yardage?

Game after game you seem these teams lining up in shotgun when you just need inches for a first down. Why is going under center nearly extinct now?

Pretty annoying watching LSU do this every week.

Pussy assed high school and college coaches don’t bother teaching them under center any more.

Same reason they almost all play patty cake instead of use an actual Snapcount now.

Bobby P lined up his team in the fricking I-formation on the last drive of their game today.

I pissed my pants with joy seeing how effectively it worked.

I think I saw Nebraska run the speed option today out of single back/QB under center.

Quarterbacks hate it; they don't have extensive experience, and never develop a feel for playing under center, and its a path of least resistance-- on the most vital plays of a game, coaches will largely default to what their most important player is comfortable running.

Not just college. Just happened with Bears in a crucial spot.

Epidemic.

Because 99% of OCs in college and pro don't have the faintest idea of the rudiments of football.

Don't get me started on blocking rules and schemes.

Washington did this last night and they fumbled (well the RB did). They only lined up under center because they were running a Jet Sweep.
