Has there ever been a worse series of downs than Atlanta's in the SB?

On NFL Network now and I still can't believe it. 1st and 10 on the 23 going in with 4 minutes left. You run it three times, kick a FG and win the Super Bowl.

Instead they manage to lose 23 yards over the next three plays and the rest is history.

Just mind-numbingly stupid

99% of Falcons fans would be super bowl champion coaches if handed that scenario

Game still pisses me off. I can't stand the Falcons and bet them the first time in my entire life for the SB. Cost me $2,100. Never again

And Matt Bryant is one of the best kickers in the league

The Raiders had a game two years ago...

Where the Raiders had one first down in the First Half - and that first down was -3 yards.

Carr was sacked consecutive plays for -24 yards...Raiders got a penalty and went back 10 more...they got an automatic first down on a defensive holding call.

But then had to punt after losing more yards.

Raiders had -12 yards in the first half.

It's still very enjoyable

2012 Alabama-LSU game. Late 4th Lsu runs he ball down to around the 3 or 4 getting ready to take the lead. Phantom personal foul called. Then it all went downhill from there.

It was also one of those situations that felt mind-numbingly stupid as it was happening. I felt confident the Falcons were going to win because you run the ball 3 times, which either takes time off the clock and/or makes the Patriots use their timeouts, and you're in FG range unless a hold occurs.

I understand not wanting to play too conservative, but you also have to do that situationally. That was a situation to be smart and secure a Matt Bryant 40 yard field goal to almost secure the Super Bowl.

Astonishing series of downs. Still can't believe it happened. Had all but given up hope after the Julio catch.

I still don't understand it. That shite reminded me of Jason Garrett's playcalling.
