The great irony is that despite the fact that Skip Bayless is universally loathed among sports fans, ESPN's "embrace debate" culture has created an entire generation of Skip Baylesses out of meathead fans with an endless supply of scorching hot takes.

These are the same morons who ardently claim that they never watch ESPN save for live sports but continue to be ESPN's useful idiots when it comes to narratives and buzzwords like "elite," "clutch," "humble" and "over/underrated."

You people are just as rustled as LeBron even after game 7. That shirt and his tweet show how sensitive and rustled he was by people talking and you guys are just as rustled. You can't even enjoy it without trying to bring GS down a peg. It went 7 games it was close. Nobody dominated anybody.

Nah he's sensitive. Kobe and Mj weren't sensitive like that because they weren't trying to be everybody's friend or liked. They just played ball and didn't worry about all the talk.

They were hated just as much. Social media is an excuse. LeBron cares about that shite, but does Tom Brady? Kobe was hated more than both of them (MJ, LeBron combined.

Woah Woah. Woah.

Kobe/ Lakes fan checking in here . Same age for both players ( Kobe & Lebron) I take Lebron.

Most of the Lebron haters seem to have watched Space Jam a few too many times & are living in the past.

The Space Jam nerds want to kill 2 birds with 1 stone by hating Lebron & blaming Kobe fans

Most of the comparisons arguments even here are Lebron vs MJ

LeBron is perhaps the the greatest perimeter player( not the most aesthetically pleasing jump shot) I've ever seen. Period.

Lebron has moved into my top 3.
MJ, Kareem,and Bron.
What Bron did in this finals is nothing short of MJ.

Led everyone in points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals!!!
Thats fricking insane.

back in the day, jordan would freeze out reporters who said things he didnt like. there is no censorship like that anymore. jordan cheated on his wife alllll the time. 2 decades later, tiger gets caught doing it and its news. in the 90s, the media was smaller, less invasive, and less angry. there were journalist standards. now any rumor on TMZ and the networks roll with it and just cite the original report to cover their own arse if its wrong/bullshite. the media is completely different than it used to be

LBJ has been working on the GOAT or bust scale since he was 19. tommy was picked behind 198 other guys. there has always been a different expectation in their careers. LBJ is by far the worst treated superstar of all time. and hes actually a good guy

The haters have led me to rooting for Lebron at times. I think some of the criticism has been warranted but they just go too far with it. When Miami lost to Dallas, I agreed with most of the reasonable criticism but the mob mentality of hate had me pulling for him the following year.

I now believe that you can't fault any part of his game or competitiveness. I can only fault some of his whining on the court, flopping (remember that playoff game this year when he went flailing back when Tristan Thompson barely touched him), and letting media bother him too much. At this point, he should be able to let it go and take the high road.

To be honest, the haters and Lebron fans are all annoying as frick.

That's because of threads like this. Has there been a more sensitive, defensive and needy fan base than Lebron's? It's like the fans are almost solely built on the idea that he has to overcome huge mountains of criticism. Which just isn't true.

But Lebron is a massive star, so his celebrity alone will create this kind of divide.

Been getting beat the frick up for 2 years on these boards. Of course Lebron fans are going to flex when he proves you guys wrong. It'll die down.

What sports star in his position doesn't get beat up a little bit? He has expectations, he has talent, he's been successful. He isn't alone, and this isn't the first time this has happened to someone. Not a unique situation.

But the fans are ridiculous with the manufactured "adversity." Lebron is always the most talented and physically gifted person on the floor. Every game.

I'm on neither side actually. He's a great player and this series proved he's Top 3-5 all time. There are other players/teams I'd rather watch more and root for, however. The shirt, the hat, it's all incredibly whiny for someone in his position, just winning a Championship. I actually lost respect for him for that, it just made him look insecure.

Its quite remarkable really. I know not everyone has kept with the Lebron hate, but their is still a decent portion of fans that have, and better believe once the newness of this recent championship wears off, it'll start again. But a timeline-

Loses finals in Cleveland as a kid, sets up expectations for title but never gets one as a Cav. Despite no real help around him, and plenty success given what he has to work with, is mocked for not being a winner, having "heart", etc.

Leaves Cleveland for Miami. "Has to run off and form an all star team to win". "Shows he isn't a real competitor, no drive, Etc"

Loses to Dallas, has a poor series. The peak of Lebron haters. Can't even win with all the talent. Choke artist, not clutch.

Wins MVP and a finals MVP. Now the doubling down begins. "Yeah well it's just one title." "Yeah well he said he'd win seven at a pep rally". "Yeah but he played bad last year."

Back to back MVPs, titles, and finals MVPs. Doubling down becomes harder but fear not for the takes come in. "Ray Allen saved him" (ignores Lebron putting team on back entire fourth to bring them back in game 6, including a three the possession before Rays shot. And overtime, or the brilliant game 7 to clinch)

Loses back to back finals. "2-4 lol".

Down to warriors in finals. "Bout to be 2-5" "ultimate loser, always loses in finals"

This is where the doubling down becomes impossible but happens anyway. First player to come back from down 3-1 in an NBA finals. Not only that, does it against the best team to ever be beat in a finals. Think about that- it's the single most impressive comeback in finals history and most impressive series victory considering competition. He does that while being a complete monster in games 5-7, 2 on the road in the toughest road venue. First player to ever lead all players in ANY series of ANY length in points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals. We've reached a textbook definition of what more could you ask of someone? And STILL, there's some takes like "Kyrie really should've been MVP". "Couldn't of win without Kyries scoring". "Kyrie is the closer". And while they couldn't have win without Kyrie, Lebron was hands down better. He had a game saving block as well. That argument is essentially saying "well Lebron couldn't beat one of the best teams ever without someone else playing well also."

I mean its the second time in his career, he's being belittled by some for not making every single play (Ray Allen and now kyries 3).

It's crazy. I've never seen anything like it when it comes to judging individual players.

TL, DR version- Lebron will never satisfy some, unless he goes 98-0 and gets every point, rebound, assist, steal, block each game. While also playing 48 minutes a night, and defending the other teams best player each night.

wow, what the frick are you typing. you ever sat and thought to yourself maybe people don't like him for the type of person he is which is much based off of past decisions and how he's handled himself? Him winning a title changes nothing about my dislike for him. Nothing. I don't hate or like someone based on talent alone. I was actually mildly fond of lebron until he quit on his own cleveland team and ran away like a pussy.
