There was no ''search''- just media/twitter nerds reading stupid message board rumors and using them as ''sources''. It happens every year. AD Alleva did frick it up allowing the school's name to be drug through the mud but what do you expect after his Duke frick up?

Alleva can't control what the media says...

If there was no search and Miles was his man, you don't allow your school and fan base to be put on blast for 2 weeks.

I believe he was ignoring it because he wanted to keep the team focused on the game and wanted to wait until after to address it. The media think they are entitled to answers, even to things they make up themselves. They're the ones who were being slanderous the whole time and there was probably nothing going on.

You should go read through some timelines of more respected journalists out there.

Alleva put the info out there. He leaked the stuff to try to lite a fire. He chose a shitty mouthpiece (Schad) and it snowballed. And then when it did, he didn't try to contain if. That's Alleva's job, to put out that vote of confidence, regardless. Because guess what? You lose recruits.

Also, I don't think people realize how small of a percentage thinks the same way as message boards. People who post on here generally are posting extremes and don't represent a fan base well.

The whole thing was nothing short of a disgrace. Alleva is a total pussy who should not be associated with LSU.

Lsu refused to pay Pat Sullivan's buyout in 95. Ended up with Gerry, who had just lost to Tennesee 62-0.

LMAO at this revisionist history that there was nothing going on and this was a media creation. This board had at least 5-10 guys, probably with different sources, saying this was a done deal. You can try to say it was an echo chamber of hope, but surely the big money donors and maybe even Alleva were going to pull the trigger.

Coaching searches are just a pain in the butt now with social media, message boards, and 6,000 cable channels covering everything. It's very difficult to determine what is legitimate information, trolling, negotiation, bluffing, wishful thinking, etc.

It's interesting that the board seems to be split now on whether Les should stay after Jimbo talks collapsed. I still think a guy like Herman would have been a good backup play, and the program is just going to stagnate now for a couple of more years. However, it looks like the media and general public reaction would not have tolerated Les being fired for an unproven coach.

Pardon me if I remain skeptical about ESPN's reporting about Les Miles' future.

We suck so fricking much. Joke of a program. Our basketball team is up next to embarrass us this season.

What's with y'all in the South wanting to fire good coaches? I would love to have Reicht or Miles at ASU.

(Maybe ASU's been stuck in mediocrity too long since Kush)

Maybe the athletic department did not want to address the issue until after the season was over (like they said) because they wanted the team to focus on finishing. Maybe Miles' job was never in question for the administration. Maybe the media took it way too far, way too fast, with pure speculation to back them up. If any particular organization was atrocious, it was the media for blowing tons of smoke when nothing was there

So you believe the media made up a huge national story out of thin air? Ok.

Someone in the LSU AD gave them something to go on. And media does what media does, regurgitates it. Place the blame where it belongs, at the doorstep of the LSU AD.

Exactly, people keep bitching about the media this, media that. Richt just got fired and that wasn't a shitshow.
