Hack-a-whoever doesn't work unless the shooter is shooting a ridiculously low percentage. Like, under 40%.

Almost every time a coach does this, the score is either virtually the same when he stops, or the team that was shooting the free throws has increased their lead.

But they didnt fall down anymore and it forced Jordan to make some FT's. I think they do it again in 4th qtr

He was just putting Jordan on blast for blocking those shots. Pop is messing with his head.

I really do think the Hack-a-whoever strategy is a fad that will fade. A 50% shooter gets you 1 point per possession, which is fine. And the other team gets no chances to score off turnovers, and very few chances to get easy points on breaks. Nobody in the modern NBA likes to run halfcourt offense constantly, and if you hack a player, that's exactly what you are stuck with.

Hack a player strategy drives me crazy. It completely screws the momentum of the game.

It also will inevitably force DeAndre off the floor at multiple key points in this series.

This. Pop called the first one right after Deandre swatted one and got the crowd fired up. Pop was basically saying chill out bruh

That fails to consider the chance of offensive rebounds as well. If they make the first and then get the rebound, that's a great result for the offense.

I would argue the offs of getting an offensive board on a free throw are way lower than any shot from the field.

Yeah, especially with your best offensive rebounder on the line.

I really just don't think the strategy is as good as people think it is. Your offense is put under a lot of pressure to score in half court situations. If they are unable to deliver, you can get your own offense in a funk. Now if my team was up 20, and the opponents had just hit 3 straight threes to bring it down to 11, I could see using the strategy just to slow things down. But that is really all it can do.

It has it's pros/cons. One thing no one else considers is that it gives LA a free chance to rest CP3 and BG because they don't need their offense at times when they aren't running offense.
