"The Kid" is just old. Depressing to think that when he's up to bat that it's just an easy out. I just don't see him as intimidating anymore.

if he doesnt have that stretch of injuries, what are the odds he is the GOAT?

GOAT? Not great. Top 5? Almost definitely.

Fair or not, postseason matters when you are splitting hairs amongst the all-time greats. And he just wasn't going to have opportunity to be great in the postseason. Although, he could have lead that '01 team a World Series title maybe. They were awesome even without him.

Barring injuries and a few moves, such as A-Rod and the Big Unit possibly staying in Seattle with him...damn, could have been one of the greatest teams of all time as well.

His batting average started declining there in the late 90s. But as far as being an all around threat with the glove, arm, bat and feet.. I argue that there might not have been any better. His stretch from 1990-1999 was the most statistically impressive stretch for any OF in the history of the game (save maybe bonds' roid years).

That is because "the kid" is a old frickin man now Time is fleeting man, plus injuries did his arse in also.

I thought that to at one time, but Bonds was better than him. and Bond only had a couple of major roid years, but people forget how impressive Bonds was with his glove, base stealing, all around skills because of his big stick.

Is there a baseball fan in the world that doesn't love Griffey?

It's about time he steps down. He's washed up. Sad to see the Mariners wasting time with him. I know there was a buzz when he returned, but he's not the same anymore.

He hasn't had a good year statistically but his leadership in the locker room has helped them to a much better record this year than last year and the bottom line of why they would bring him back if he wants to come back is because he sells tickets.

Plus he's not taking anybody's spot in the field, he is only DHing and thats mainly against right handed pitchers only. Some may say he doesn't know when to call it quits but according to Jr he still loves to play the game so why can't he do that for as long as he wants as long as he's not holding down another player's progress? He still commands respect getting a decent number of walks and he has had a few big hits late in games this year so he hasn't been a complete waste for them.

I don't love him because he's lazy. I've got more respect for Bonds because he actually gave a shite. Griffey's injuries were not all fluke. He just didn't care enough to take better care of his body.

Cheating is worse than being lazy IMO
