Sure, but more like top 20, rather than Top 3 as some like to put him.

More like top 50 to me. PJ might that that's an insult, but there are 750 players in MLB every year, being one of the 50 best to ever play is Hall of Fame level.

Top twenty sounds right and NO way that makes him overated.

It does if there are people that put him higher or if you can make an arguement for 20 other guys.

There seems to be this misunderstanding of the term "over rated". It doesn't mean no good, it means some people rank what ever too high.

I'm probably where others have said, somewhere between 30-50. Yes, he should be in the HOF.

If some people think a player should be ranked #20 and I think he is no better than #50, that means imo his ranking is 30 spots to high, which by defanition is over rated. You are think over rated means no good, which is not the case.

Goddammit you can be frustrating sometimes. Yes, he is still often overrated. People who rank him in the Top 10 or 20 are still overrating him. People who rank him at #50 are not. You can have it both ways. It just depends on where he is ranked.

Ummm… a majority of people likely have Cal Ripken as a top 3 shortstop of all time. And rightfully so. He pretty much redefined the position. But we’ll get into that on the shortstop list.

Clemente has a halo effect due to the circumstances surrounding his death in which its impossible to criticize him as a baseball player. He was Hall of Fame worthy, but people put him in that inner circle, like Rose, and he is not that level of player. And God forbid you suggest Larry Walker had a better arm. It’s like denying the divinity of Christ.

3rd base, BTW, is such a weird position. Not a hitter’s or gloveman’s position. Guys just fall through the cracks.

I looked up Clemente, and he is not in the Top 25 of ANY offensive category. He is barely in the Top 30 for hits and triples. That's it.

Well I am sure I could find 20 better than Rose, But to be HONEST you are prob the only one in history that puts him at 50 or worse. Is Nolan Ryan overated???????????? 7 No-no's and the strokeoutking but his WP and his Walks make me think so.

There are people that rank Ryan in the top 5, that's way to high. He tends to be the most over rated pithcer.

Clemente is a top 30 position player of all time and top 15 position player in modern baseball history.

Depends on how you define over rated. I define it literally. You are mistaking it for an insult (which I called several pages ago) or as saying someone is not that good or undeserving of HOF status which is not the case.
