If I had to guess, it will be something similar to the World Cup of Golf in Melbourne this year:

72-hole stroke play with first and third days are four-ball play, and the second and fourth days are alternate shot

I maybe in the minority but I like this idea a lot. Think the Zurich is a great place to do this.

Definitely cautiously optimistic - not sure if the pros will be on board with it or not. They are pretty meh on Avondale's layout but this could spark some interest.

I think this could be a hit with the younger golfers like Thomas / spieth / Kaufman etc. maybe I'm just being hopeful

The Zurich had trouble drawing big names, so maybe this will create some interest and we might get a few more of the top 25 down here.

I dont see why anyone would play this if there are no fedex/ryder cup points available. The schedule is busy enough without a exhibition thrown in

Not sure about this, but I'm intrigued. They've had some big names recently but would love for it to be something different to interest more top players. The purse is already over $7 million, guessing they'll have to push it over $7.5 to make that more realistic though.

In related news, when's the new City Park course going to be open? 2018 Zurich?

Everyone knows Zurich is a lower tier tournament in regards to drawing the Top 50 players. The course is a big hurdle and a fixed variable for now.

Definite concern. If they are banking on it drawing players who want match play experience, they better fork up a bigger purse, especially in a non-Ryder Cup year.

I stand corrected after reading some details. Still and offical event, still get an exemption for winning and fedex cup points. Maybe this will be a good idea
