Thats what is wrong about the PGM program, they teach you how to run a pro shops, course management, turf management ect.

The majority know nothing about this, or running a golf course. PGA professionals for the most part now are glorified shirt folders.

I have an old favorite:

Can you hit a draw with an open clubface?

Yep. Path in to out. Handle forward, weight forward. Clubface well be open in relation to target line, closed in relation to path. Result = push draw

I just happened to come back on here and see that question, I figured if I went in depth why it would look like I hit up google.

My favorite teaching maxim from the majority of pga pros is that stance has a huge affect on the curvature of the ball, when it has nothing to do with anything. It can help alter the path, but I can curve it both directions being way open or way closed

It took stack and tilt and numerous threads about the d-plane on golfwrx for me to understand the laws. Now I know why the ball flies the way it does and can make necessary adjustments, which usually begins with my grip.

Sounds pretty good, although I dont hear a lot of players who adjust their grip based on ball flighting issues

Thats a pretty tough thing to do....

For the OP it will be hard to break into the Baton Rouge market with all of ZeeDustin's students having so much success. But good luck to you anyway ...

Not the best idea, unless you mean that your grip gets bad and you get back to basics

not necessarily, the grip itself, i meant my hands gripping the club with an open enough face. sometimes it doesn't feel right when i open the face, and i'll end up changing so it sets up square or maybe a tad closed.

Thanks guys, i am very young and i am not worried about being the number #1 guy in Baton Rouge, i am still in college and i just want to make it right now. I dont need to teach college guys, hackers is fine with me for now. IMO without the correct grip nothing else will fall into place at all. You would be suprised when someone comes in for a lesson and you work on their grip then other things jjust fall into place and they hit it much better right off.
