I disagree. I think someone like him kills you in short yardage if you bring him in. Might as well bring in the tight end to play QB, Tebow takes the pass out of the equation for the defense

From my point of view, people dont have anything against Tebow personally. They just know he sucks as an NFL qb(noticed I said NFL). Yet, we had to hear so much from dumb people how HE wins how HE makes teams better etc etc. Then when he proved he sucks we cant say told you so without being labeled a hater

I wish him all the best of luck but he's just not an NFL level qb.

Better than that Johnny Manzel douche though

You can get 5-2 odds on Tebow making the roster

I may throw some money down on him not making it. Do people expect the Eagles to carry 3 qbs?

I think most teams carry 3 QBs.

Just going by ESPN depth charts, it looks like only a few carry less than 3 (Broncos, Colts, Ravens, etc.).

Gotcha. I could have sworn the new trend was only carrying two qbs

ETA: Looks like in 2011 13 teams carried only 2 Qbs. So it is not quite 50/50 yet but getting more common to not carry 3

Might be. No telling how current the depth charts are. They might cut back to 2 as the season approaches.

Tim Tebow's one-year contract with the Eagles is worth $660,000 and contains zero guaranteed money. It's the bare minimum. The Philadelphia Inquirer has characterized Tebow's chances of landing a 53-man roster spot as "long," and Tebow's contract supports that. At best, he'll be the No. 3 behind Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez.

A lot of those teams only carrying 2 QBs either had one on the practice squad ready to roll, or had an emergency QB on roster (aka Edleman for the Pats).

The way a lot of teams see it is, if you're down to your third QB... it's not going to go well for you.

yeah but on the 53...of which they dress 47, Tebow offers some interesting advantages.

1) He is big. He can play HB, sub in for a RB, special teams, short yardage, etc.
2) You dont care if he gets hurt running that crap.
3) God himself will be on your side.

A third string QB who can play other positions because of his size is a nice trick for a spot on the 47.

I don't think he's practice squad eligible.

I don't see why he couldn't be a good special teamer who occasionally takes a snap.

That's all well and good, but in his last go round, the biggest issue was that he wasn't good at anything. If he's improved, more power to him. But the issue was, and may still be, that as a backup coaches knew if something happened to the starter, Tebow was unable to run an NFL offense.

You're not going to waste a roster spot on a guy who isn't good enough to contribute meaningfully in any of the ways you listed.

The Tebow lovers had a real problem acknowledging that his run with the Broncos (8-6 as a starter) was greatly aided by the fact that at the time they had the best kicker, one of the best punters, and a pretty solid defense.

There are enough special teams specialists who have been doing it long enough and don't need to be taught from scratch. Tebow entered the league 5 years ago. He was insistent he be a QB and scoffed at the prospects of playing other roles. The experimenting with him is over, QB3 or bust.
