It wasn't at Coors, but do y'all remember the absolute bomb Andres Galaraga hit at the Marlins old stadium?

I do. I think they first said 573 feet, but changed it to 506 or something. He almost hit it out of the stadium. Insane.

This could be a dumb question, but do they measure it based on how far it would have gone?

Stanton now has the longest HRs hit in 3 different parks - Coors, Marlins Park, and Citi Field.

Adam Dunn is the only other player with the record in 3 parks.

It has to be based on how far it would have gone. Piazza had the record at Coors - 496 feet.

Unless they've remodeled the park quite a bit, his HR landed on the terrace in CF.

I think that's how they measure it, but I'm not 100% sure.

I was just there earlier this week and walked out there. Those concession stands are insanely far away from home plate.

I had never been there before. And I know it's because of the altitude but that park is massive.

That piazza homer looked much further, by a lot.

Or McGwire's 545' jack against the Big Unit in the Kingdome?

ETA: Yes, I somehow avoided the phrase "jack off the Big Unit" even on my first go-round.

Yeah their estimates are always ridiculous. stantons looks like nothing special. Galarragas looks like its in another galaxy.

They are so inconsistent with their projections they cant be taken seriously. Its been like that for decades.

Both are supposed to be 504 feet.
