Games that completely changed NFL history if the results were reversed

Two that come to mind for me are the Patriots and 49ers first Super Bowl wins.
I remember the time when the Pats were a joke franchise and they and Tom Brady were legitimate likable underdogs, and I the Rams were the big shots that were on their way to a dynasty. That never happened.
I also remember the Cowboys/49ers NFC championship in 1981. A lot of people were tired of the Cowboys and the 49ers came out of nowhere that year. Then they got to 5 Super Bowl wins before the Cowboys did. And the Cowboys never got that close to the Super Bowl again under Tom Landry. They got back to the NFCCG one year later, but it wasn't as close.
It's interesting to me to think about how NFL history might have been different if those results have reversed. The Patriots would have been one Super Bowl loss away from matching the Vikings and Bills. Would Tom Brady be Tom Brady? Either Danny White or the Bengals would be a Super Bowl champion. That blows my mind.
Another possibility would be the Immaculate Reception. That was the moment that gave the Steelers confidence to start their run a couple of years later. What if they lost? What if the 72 Dolphins played on the road against a damn good Raiders team in the AFC Championship Game? Would they have even gotten to the Super Bowl?

Oilers vs Bills
"The Comeback"
If the Oilers win, they might stay in Houston. Due to the butterfly effect alone, the likelihood that I would have to see JJ Watt on every other commercial on TV in Houston is reduced drastically.

What if the Colts had won Super Bowl III?

Buffalo wins their first of the 4 Super Bowls, instead of losing it. They go on with more confidence and momentum to win 4 straight Super Bowls, and become a perennial power in the AFC East. They put down Bill Belichick and Tom Brady before they can begin their SB run. Belichick is fired, Brady becomes a career backup. Buffalo becomes the one threat to Peyton Manning's postseason runs, and he goes on to win 3 SBs instead of one

What if J.J. Watt isn't even born then?

Saints/Niners in the divisional playoffs... Saints win their second SB title if Harper didn't suck...

There's NO way Buffalo wins those last three SBs... redskins and cowboys just outclassed them

Walt Coleman fat piece of crap lying idiot. His explanation was one of the worst in NFL history live at the event - because he just got off the phone with the commissioner.
Oakland was soaring, NE wasn't anybody at that point.
Who the frick was Tom Brady? Just some skinny Michigan washout.
Tuck rule play happened again last week in the playoffs - now it's a fumble because of rule change...go figure.
Pats weren't in the game to benefit, so it was ruled a fumble.

Pats / colts AFCCG January 2007 - Peyton never wins a SB and Brady has another one if Ne didn't blow a 20 point lead. Imagine the memes and general consensus on Manning V Brady if Peyton didn't even have ONE
Also the two SBs that the pats lost that could have gone their way (helmet catch / welker drop)
If Brady/BB win the 2007 and 2008 and 2011 Super Bowls to get to 7 imagine how he is regarded versus today with 4. He'd be poised for a shot at his 8th

Even if they don't win the SB that year, Brady showed enough that Drew was still expendable. I don't think it alters 2003 and 2004. If anything, I think it effects the Red Sox. Bill Simmons has said it had a huge effect on the Red Six organization.

Joe Namth fails to deliver on his guarantee in Super Bowl 3 and the following exchange may not have happened.

"The Sea of Hands"' - Stabler's comeback against the Dolphins fails. The '74 Miami Dolphins go on to beat the Vikings again in the Super Bowl. That would be 4 straight appearances and 3 titles. The Dolphins are the preeminent dynasty of the 70s, not Pittsburgh.

Not THAT one is deep:
1. Joe Namath becomes glorified Daryle Lamonica
2. The Jets become an older, big-market Jaguars
3. Don Shula never leaves Baltimore
4. The Colts become the first merger dynasty
5. The '72 Dolphins never happens
6. Carroll Rosenbloom never swaps franchises with Robert Irsay and the Rams
7. The Colts don't move to Indianapolis
8. The Rams don't move to St. Louis
9. Shula retires from the Colts and they quickly go to shite
10. Peyton Manning is drafted by the Baltimore Colts and refuses to play for them
11. The Colts trade Manning to the New York Jets
12. Peyton Manning and the Jets beat Eli Manning and the Giants to win their first Super Bowl

It's funny how things flipped completely to mostly the NFC in the 80's.
In the 70's - the Dolphins, Steelers and Raiders were the best teams on the planet...but had to fight through each other to get to the SB.
