Frank Martin seems like quite the stand-up dude

I'll admit as a Clemson fan I never knew much about the guy other than the fact that he looks like an axe murderer on the sideline with that intense glare of his.

However, learning more about him during this run has been one of the best parts about this tournament. Guy seems to be about as legit as they come.

It's tough pulling for the Gamecocks, but I don't think I could ever pull against this dude. He's a great representative for the state.

Loving all these stories coming out about his past and what kind of guy he really is. Probably my favorite coach now.

It's amazing what a tourney run will do for a guy. Two years ago most people thought this guy was just a fricking loon who couldn't succeed at USCe. Now he's the belle of the ball.

He was fun as hell to watch in the Big 12. Happy to see him having success at SC

I was a fan of his K-State teams. I have always thought he was a good coach.

That's because nobody knew anything about him and only saw a guy who yelled a ton on the sideline.

I also feel like the Frank Martin we see now is a bit different than the Frank Martin that we saw cussing out the South Carolina player a couple years ago.

Exactly and thats why its so great when a tourney run gets to let everyone see the cool things about people they other wise might not see.

It's the same guy. However, when they were losing game after game he just looked like a complete a-hole with people asking "why would anyone want to play for this dick?" Now that they are winning, he's the "tough coach" who is only trying to instill that toughness in his guys.

I think it probably takes the right guy to want to play for Martin. He's as close to Bobby Knight (personality-wise) as we've seen since Knight. That may or may not be a good thing, but right now you can't argue with his success

I remember a few years ago when a Johnny Jones coached team was ripping them and Martin was just going ballistic, thinking this guy made a mistake leaving KSU and was going to flame out soon.

Meh, I don't know. He seems to have really calmed down a lot since the cussing out the player on national television incident. That was really a black eye for him and the program.

Late season run. Star player and good defense. Overall record is under 60%. JJ has a better overall record.

It's all timing and runs in the tourney.

Yep. Johnny was just waiting for the right timing to make his run. That was it. GTFO.

I told the gamecock fans on Rant, they hired a good one.

He can be very abrasive, which rubs some AD's wrong, but the guy can coach. KST pissed that situation away.

It's good to see Coaches who work hard and believe in their guys get rewarded.

I've been a fan of Frank Martin for a while. He's a great coach and it seems like an even better human being. As a fan of basketball I love the way his South Carolina team plays. I'm pulling for them.

I like Frank Martin, but John Brady went to the Final Four. Lots of shitty coaches go on runs. Whether he can sustain his success will determine his status.
