ESPN reports that Marcus Camby has been named defendant in a wrongful death lawsuit over the drowning of his 9-year-old nephew in a pond on his Houston estate.
The child, Marcus Carter McGhee, traveled to his uncle’s compound from Hartford, Conn., during the Thanksgiving holiday last year.
Little Marcus was found dead two days after he was reported missing.
The boy’s father, Marcus Kendall McGhee, alleges that Camby failed to supervise the child, who needed continuous adult supervision because of his special needs.

Everybody loses here. Truly a sad story that more than likely could have been prevented.

I would never leave a mentally impaired child with someone who wasn't qualified to watch after them. Especially a fricking former NBA player

There may be more to this but this seems like a money grab situation.

Seems weird to sue in that situation unless it's a money grab

I think it'd be more apt to buy into it if it was the boys mother (Camby's sister) and father suing. At face value it sounds like a cash grab.
ETA: It sounds like the biggest part of the suit is that the pond wasn't "fenced in" and should have been in the child was there on the property. LINK

Were the parents not on the property with him? Suing your own family? Seems like they just want his money...figures...disgusting.

They are suing him and his home owner's insurance

Not gonna bring the boy back...but, I get the impression that is not the major concern.
Lawsuits are not the way to settle family beef.
