He will do well there. Sets up perfectly for the Coogs with Ward being a senior then Allen eligible once he leaves

Tom Hermann is going wreck shop with Allen and that recruiting class that they're on the cusp of putting together.

Does anyone else find it weird that we are living in a time when UH,TCU & Baylor are the best programs in the state of TX.

Only restrictions as far as I know on either were in the SEC or any school on our schedule for the next four years

Pretty sure that Herman's coached in Texas enough to realize what he'd be walking into in Austin. Of course, if Texas gets desperate enough they might be able to money whip him into forgetting about it.

Even if Herman leaves I could see them promoting Applewhite from within which would be interesting

Is it a weird situation in for Texas schools in that they kind of want to be Texas ($$$, prestige, etc) but also don't want to be exactly like Texas (tail wagging the dog)? Texas couldn't (and seemingly still can't) find the right balance between getting the dollars from the boosters and giving them just enough power. They're still a fricking mess over there.

Where's that MSB thread where everyone was making fun of Houston and calling them a fraud? Needs a good bump.

Not sure if you meant "It is" or if you were asking the question, but yeah they'll never find another Mack Brown who could balance that program in its current state. IMHO, until they acknowledge how far out of whack they've gotten they'll keep settling for Charlie Strong type hires unless they just wanna pay Saban $10M(which they can't really afford).

Of course, as an Aggie, I'm totally content to wait for them to figure it out.

I was asking basically does it feel weird for fans of Texas schools (A&M somewhat excluded) to want what Texas has (or be what Texas is) even after seeing how awful it can become.

I'm struggling to convey the question. But it's basically about envying something so terrible because what got it to be terrible was pretty great.

ETA: I feel like I have a decent question to ask without the capacity for the thought required to ask the question right now.

Probably, want a cookie for it? Not like he did not have an 8 win bowl team or anything the previous year before he got there.

SMU improved also they were able to get 1st downs in 2nd half (actually whole game) this year. Maybe next year they can score touchdowns in the 2nd half

I think it would be Applewhite's return to Texas eventually as HC. Yes I know the past, but people forget if you win.
