Did you try the google machine first? That's how I figured it out. A few years ago in CFB RPOs were all the rage because of Auburn I feel like

Essentially the old triple option, just repackaged. Instead of a mesh with a fullback and the QB, it's with a TB. Instead of a pitch to a TB, it's a toss to the slot.
It's super effective if run properly or a clusterfrick of epic proportions if run improperly.

Oh it still is. And now it's being run in the NFL.
Here's how Green Bay uses RPOs in their West Coast system
Basically in a regular Zone Read the QBs Key is the Last man on the line (Or the Defensive Tackle on Midline Options). With a RPO, generally the read is a OLB a SS if he walks down in the Box. If that player plays the dive..the QB will throw it to a WR on a Slant or sometimes a Bubble Screen. If the OLB stays home the QB hands it off to the RB on a dive.

Triple options would typically read the play side DE, then option the play side safety.
RPOs read a bunch of different positions based on how they react to the run.
It's different from the triple option based on the players read, and can actually throw a forward pass.
It's actually much closer to a play action pass, with the play action being optional.

Yeah I know it's still popular. I think after the Auburn/Alabama game in 14 or 15 I remember Saban kept saying RPO, that was the first time I remember it being referred to in initials
