Still 3rd highest overnight number for Game 1 on ABC, with the 12.4 rating behind the 13.1 last year and the 12.9 the year before being the only games ahead. Streaming numbers were up 43% from last year.

The final rating numbers aren't out yet, so it isn't definitive whether or not it's actually behind last year. Regardless, Cavs vs GS has been big numbers in all 3 iterations.

It is the exact opposite, people love Lebron so much they didn't want to see the bloodbath last night

Yep his easy road to the NBA Finals is getting old. Never before has anyone had clearer paths to their Sports championship round as him.

Golden States road the last 3 years have been a joke outside OKC.

They have had freak luck with just about every decent team they were supposed to play having injuries

Tired of the lack of parity in the sport. When you have the same two teams making the finals three years in a row, the finals loses its luster. Then, when one of the teams adds the second best player in the NBA to go along with three other top 25 players, we're to expect a good finals series? I don't think so.

I admittedly watched more of that than the game.

It sounds bad but a lot of people are tired of seeing the same 2 teams in the final. It also doesn't help both teams have won it the past two years.

The Warriors are so potent that the second they got up double digits last night, most people knew the game was over. The Cavs would grind out 6-8 points only to have GSW blitz them back. I think people absolutely are intrigued by the Durant addition to the equation...if the games don't suck.

I will agree that the novelty could very well wear off after this year.

Since Jordan retired in 1998, there have been 18 Finals series (not counting 2017). In the 7 featuring LeBron, the average rating was 9.89, and in the 11 without him, the average rating was 9.83.

So I guess it was cool when the Heat stacked up and the "big 3" took paycuts to be together? Gotcha. Sounds cool bro.

Who mentioned the Heat at all? I'm saying from a fan's perspective, it's not fun to watch the same two teams play in the finals three years in a row, especially when the matchup is lopsided once again. Cleveland will be lucky to win two games with that atrocious defense, but then again, no one is a good matchup with the Warriors IMO.

The ratings aren't as good as the previous two years, but they're still light years ahead of anything in the past decade plus.
