Fill me in on College Basketball

Since South Carolina and LSU have little to play for this season, fill me in on this season of NCAA Basketball.
Who are some teams that will up and down? Any surprise teams or predictions? I know the NCAA Tournament is a crapshoot, but is Kentucky the clear cut favorite to win it all? Any big time games I should keep my eye on in the coming weeks?

Duke, Arizona, and Wisky will be very good as well, so I don't really see Kentucky as a clear cut favorite until they can prove they can win in their OOC schedule (which is pretty stacked). Not a lot of people are talking about Gonzaga but Pangos is healthy and UK's Wiltjer is playing with them now too.
I wouldn't be surprised to see somebody like SMU make a splash. They damn near did last season.
As far as big matchups, Kentucky will play Kansas on the 18th which will be a good early one to watch. I believe Duke and Michigan State also play on that day (it's all part of the Champions Classic). SMU and Gonzaga will play on the 17th (both ranked). UConn and Texas will play on the 30th. Duke and Wisky on the 3rd of December. Texas and Kentucky as well as Florida and Kasnas on the 5th. And so on.

- The four best teams coming into this season are ranked No. 1-4 in the preseason polls.
- Virginia returns more than they lose, but I'm a little skeptical without Joe Harris.
- Wichita State should have a dynamite of a backcourt. Not sure how they'll do in the grand scheme of things, but I don't see any reason why they shouldn't run through the MVC again.
- Interested to see Iowa State in action without Kane and Ejim, but Niang returns from injury. They ran over Minnesota in one of those 'not-so-secret' scrimmages.
- Harvard is going to rip the Ivy League apart.
- There is no way Nebraska matches last season. Terran Petteway is a good player, but the Huskers are dreadful on the road and their best win in I don't know how long was against a completely unmotivated Wisconsin team that had nothing to play for.

Look out for LSU in the SEC. They could be a dark horse to win the conference and will certainly compete for a tourney spot.
I predict them to finish 3rd in the conference, however, just ahead of Mizzou, but right behind Kentucky and Florida.

VCU Rams take home the hardware this year

I am a bit of a homer when it comes to LSU, but seriously they are going to be pretty good this year.
I don't realistically expect them to win the SEC, but finishing third is definitely possible.
I do expect to make the tournament this year. With the talent they have now, a trip to the NIT will be underperforming and disappointing.

Wow. So they were pretty spot on with
-What about Michigan (24) and Michigan State (18)? That seems unseasonable low to me...
-UCONN (17) and Syracuse (23)? The same as above... UConn did just win the championship and Ollie looks to be a good coach. I love Boeheim and never count the Cuse out.
-Any chance Georgetown rebounds after a sub-par season last year?
-Do any of you know much about the Pac 12 this year (outside of Arizona)? I believe Arizona is the only school ranked which is odd considering Utah, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, and even Colorado has had good teams recently...
Thanks guys...enjoying the conversation and looking forward to the season.

I'm a huge fan of Branden Dawson and Denzel Valentine. Both are very good players and will be right there when All-Conference selections come out.
Losing the trio of Harris/Payne/Appling certainly hurts, though. Also, Kenny Kaminski is no longer with the team and he would certainly provide depth, if anything, to a team that is short on big men.
We also need to see what MSU brings to the table replacing Harris because that is a giant question mark right now. Izzo said he has three players vying for the position, but just one of those players (Alvin Ellis, SO) is healthy.
For what we still don't know about MSU, No. 18 seems OK.

This is another one I'm OK with. Caris LeVert is an incredible player and I actually think he will win Conference POY.
However, Michigan lost Stauskas, GRIII, and McGary (though we all know he barely played) to the NBA.
On top of those departures, Jordan Morgan is also gone and Jon Horford left the team. This leaves a massive hole to be filled in the front court.
No doubt, though, a trio of LeVert/Walton/Irvin will give this team a scary backcourt. I just don't know of many teams with the questions surrounding the front court than Michigan.

Stanford, Colorado, and UCLA are not ranked, but are all just outside the Top 25.

Connecticut will be fine, probably, but do need to replace Napier, Daniels, Giffey, and Kromah. Good news is they should have a pretty dynamite backcourt now that Rodney Purvis is eligible.
Really not sure what to say about 'Cuse. It'll definitely take some special players to replace Ennis, Fair, and Grant. Not sure if they have that right now.

So I play in a year round league where we pick all sports. The teams are divided into fleets depending on preseason rankings/ odds to win national championship. We get points depending on how far teams go in the tourney. Which 2 of the below teams do you think will have the best season.
Arkansas
Colorado
Florida st
Georgetown
Harvard
Kansas state
Memphis
Minnesota
NC State
Pittsburgh
Utah.
I was leaning Pittsburgh but having trouble selecting a second team.
Also anyone know any super sleeper teams that are not really getting much press right now but could surprise and possibly make a tourney bid?

LSU will have a decent team
Billy Garett is about to go in dry on a weak Big East

couldnt agree more. georgia state is 100% going to the tourney barring major injury issues or something weird like that happening.
harvard is also a 100% lock for the tournament.
and utah is my "sleeper" team. they are gonna be good as shite.
