Fed Ex just agreed to sponsor the fed ex cup for another ten years. In the new contract it states that players sponsored by any competitor of fed ex are not eligible to compete in the playoffs.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts ???

They grandfathered in Westwood and Oouisthazen. I'm good with it.

I read an article earlier today that said that Lee Westwood and one other player who have UPS endorsement deals were grandfathered protection.

What happens if fed ex decides to buy a golf club manufacturer?

I think that would be chicken shite unless they either:

A) allow for the player to play just without the sponsor shown, that is if the sponsor would allow the player that luxury

Or

B) Fed ex is willing to sponsor all individuals that are currently sponsored by a competititor at the same or higher amount. If you aren't willing to sponsor someone why the frick would you restrict them if a competitor decided to sponsor them. Put up or shut up.

Eta: full disclosure, I kinda hate Fed Ex to begin with. They are the better of the three major delivery services but (pardon the cliche) but that is like being the skinniest kid at fat camp.

Only thing that would concern me is a tournament sponsor doing the same thing for players with an endorsement from a rival company.

Does anyone else does this? If not it sets a shitty precedent. Let them play without the endorsements visible on any gear.

This is America pansies...money talks and bs walks. They are paying the winner $10m and lots more to have the naming rights. If you disagree with it then you're issue should be with the PGA. Seriously how bad would it look if a guy wearing a UPS logo won the whole thing.

I don't think it matters. Everyone already knows it takes a special kind of retard to work at ups.

And if you still use the post office you are likely too old to know what fed ex is anyway.

NASCAR also does this. Monster Energy's competitors can only sponser cars in the Xfinity or truck series, not the main circuit.
