If you call having won as many conference titles as the rest of the league combined "underperforming," I'll take it every day of the week.

What is funny about this is that South Dakota isn't ranked bit we all expect to beat the doors off of North Dakota when they come down here in September. Also, most of us are thinking playoffs this year too. Could have all 4 Dakotas in the playoffs this year.

Devlin Hodges is a damn good QB. He was a 3* recruit and Mr Football finalist in HS. Had FBS offers from UAB, USA, Northern Illinois, Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Mid Tenn State and a few others. He was even a "backup plan" for multiple SEC schools like MSU, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Vandy. Was offensive player of the year in his conference last season, set almost every single season passing record for Samford (except TDs which he was 1 short of and is held by none other than Jimbo Fisher). He completed 71.4% of his passes and got invited to the Manning Passing Camp thus summer.

TL;DR - Samford got damn lucky to have Hodges

It's interesting how different the geography is for the elite FCS schools compared to FBS. They are mostly all north/northeastern schools. FBS is mostly south/southeast.

5 of the top 10 are from the south. I do not know the rest of it, just think it is a even mix. Also the "northern" schools are not small schools.

Steckel should have never been hired. His D II Alma mater didn't want him but Moats hired him, incredible

They needed to hire one of the guys from NW Missouri. He finds the sleeper kids, and could move up and win.

What happened to S-Illanoy program?

SIU just lost it's mojo and became what it always was. It hit lightning in a bottle with Kill hire.

Delaware's top Rusher from last year has been ruled ineligible.

When I first saw the bolded teams, I thought you were highlighting the teams James Madison had to beat on their way to a National Championship last year.
